Russian invaders continue their assaults in the Vovchansk area in the Kharkiv region. The enemy is trying to bypass the city from the western and eastern flanks. This was stated by Pavel Shamshin, a representative of the operational-tactical group (OTG) Kharkiv, on the air of the telethon on Tuesday, July 29.
According to him, the enemy has no opportunity to succeed in Vovchansk itself, so he is trying to attack from the flanks.
"If we talk about the west of Vovchansk, they are trying to attack through Gatishche. If we talk about the east of Vovchansk, they are trying to go through Tikhoye, Vovchanskie Khutors and thus bypass the city from the flanks," Shamshin said.
He estimates that after more than a year of heavy fighting, Vovchansk remains an important, but not strategic, target for the Russians.
"Our units are on the northern bank of the Vovcha River, closer to the border with the Russian Federation, and hold a certain area on the territory of the aggregate plant. The enemy is trying to attack there both day and night. Russian assault infantry are penetrating the plant's territory and they are making every effort to push our units beyond the natural border of the Vovcha River to the southern bank, but they are still unable to do so," the representative of the Kharkov OTG assured.
Let us recall that over the last week the situation around Kupyansk has significantly worsened – the Russian army is trying to encircle this city in the Kharkiv region and has come very close to it.
