[Korrespondent] The Russian army has come two to three kilometers closer to Kupyansk, while the Defense Forces are putting up resistance.
Over the past week, the situation around Kupyansk has significantly worsened – the Russian army is trying to encircle the city and has come very close to it.

ADVANCEMENT OF THE ENEMY
Now the Russians continue to surround Kupyansk from the northwest and have already reached Sobolivka, the Deep State public reported the day before.
The defense forces are trying to dislodge the occupiers, who are trying to gain a foothold along the road from Radkovka near the gas station and from Golubovka towards the private sector.
"The situation is complicated by the fact that the enemy has a large penetration area all the way to Sobolivka. The enemy's goal is obvious - to stretch the combat formations of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, to penetrate and further block the city from the western side," DS writes.
"THIS IS NOT LIVING, THIS IS SURVIVAL"
The head of the Kupyansk MVA, Andrey Besedin, confirmed this information today.
"The pressure is crazy. Today, the distance from the city border to the front line is about three kilometers, if we are talking about the right-bank part. If we are talking about the left-bank part, the distance is even less, it is about 2-2.5 kilometers," the official said on air at Suspilne Studiya.
Because of this situation, according to him, the city is being "shot through" right through.
"Kupyansk now resembles a web. A web of fiber optics. FPV drones now are not drones that fly in the air, that can be recorded and localized not by means of electronic warfare, but by guns. These are drones that lie in wait on the side of the road, that lie in wait on the roofs of houses. And as soon as a car appears, it immediately becomes a target for this drone," Besedin said.
In general, the enemy is covering every corner of the city with all weapons, including mortars.
"The only thing that is probably still missing is automatic weapons, but the distance is decreasing, so the danger to the life and health of anyone who is on the territory of the Kupyansk community is at its maximum," he added.
It should be noted that 2,100 civilians remain in the Kupyansk community, 1,100 of whom are in the right-bank part of Kupyansk. Evacuation is becoming increasingly difficult and dangerous.
"Without any communications. We cannot bring in food, hygiene products to help our people. Therefore, unfortunately, in Kupyansk this is not life, this is survival, this is a fight against death, which alternates constantly. The enemy strikes civilians in order to leave as many people as possible without communications, to inflict injuries, so that people die," - the head of the Kupyansk city military administration
WHAT IS THE RUSSIANS PLAN?
Senior lieutenant of the Ukrainian Defense Forces with the call sign "Alex" believes that the main blow to Kupyansk is still ahead. According to him, three or four weeks ago the enemy began to increase its activity in this direction.
"He transferred experienced FPV units and started to f*ck up our logistics, wings and heavy bombers, so it is quite possible that this is preparation for the main show, which will take place in fields, landings and populated areas," the serviceman wrote.
The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) previously noted that these actions are consistent with the long-standing goal of the Russian command – to occupy Kupyansk and create conditions for the capture of additional territories.
One of the tasks could be to block the H-26 Kupyansk-Shevchenkove highway to complicate the logistics of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The Russians could also try to advance west from the Velyka Shapkovka-Palamarovka-Nechvolodovka line to prevent Ukraine from retreating to defensive lines along the Kupyanka River.
