[Regnum] For the first time in history, Russia is fighting against the entire West alone, without any allies on the battlefield. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on July 28.
"For the first time in its history, Russia is fighting alone against the entire West. In the First World War, in the Second World War, we had allies. Now we have no allies on the battlefield. Therefore, we must rely on ourselves. We must not allow any weakness or slackness," the diplomat noted, speaking at the XI All-Russian Youth Educational Forum "Territory of Meanings."
Lavrov emphasized that Russia is defending its legitimate demands: ensuring national security, not expanding NATO to the east, and protecting the Russian-speaking population in Ukraine.
"There was no alternative to starting a special military operation. Territories are not important to us... We have the largest country in the world. It is important to us that the people who have lived there for centuries, who are the bearers of Russian culture, Russian language, Russian education, who want to raise their children in this same culture, that these people are not exterminated, that their rights are protected. This is an absolutely legal requirement," the head of the diplomatic department added.
He also clarified that another uncontested demand of the Russian side is the recognition of the realities that are enshrined in the country’s constitution.
On March 24, Lavrov also called the Kiev regime Nazis, bred for Europe's war against Russia. In this way, the minister, during his speech at a meeting of the board of trustees of the Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Support Fund, characterized the attitude of the leaders of European states to the current Ukrainian authorities. The diplomat also stated that the head of the Kiev regime, Volodymyr Zelensky, is a "pure Nazi" and a traitor to the Jewish people.
