| #14 The Daily Mail has name, age, and a clear photo: Authorities have identified the knifeman who stabbed 11 people inside a Michigan Walmart as Bradford James Gille. Gille, 42, will face charges of terrorism and 11 counts of assault with intent to murder, the Grand Traverse county prosecutor has revealed. Grand Traverse County Prosecutor Noelle Moeggenberg told reporters that the terrorism charge will be brought due to the fact that investigators believe Gille intended to 'affect the entire community, to put fear in the entire community, and to change how maybe we operate on a daily basis.' The horrific attack unfolded at the Walmart in Traverse City on Saturday afternoon. Gille allegedly entered the store during a calm shopping afternoon and randomly stabbed the victims with a folding pocket knife, authorities say. Minutes after the attack, he was in custody with the help of bystanders at the store. Moeggenberg called the attack 'a very random act of violence.' Gille, who police said is a Michigan resident, remains in custody at the Grand Traverse County Jail and is expected to be arraigned Monday or Tuesday. |

My first guess was tourists, but looking at the pix & vids, the perp looks more like a homeless white dude. A couple months ago, the city shut down a long-running homeless encampment in a city park known as The Pines. Makes me wonder if this is some spillover from that. some unarmed bystanders tried to stop the knifeman but were themselves stabbed. Note the image of a man keeping an empty shopping cart between him and the alleged perp. Pro Tip: Never rush a knife. Find something to put between you and the bad guy. Traverse City is a popular vacation spot on the coast of Lake Michigan. It is known for its cherry festival, wineries and lighthouses and is about 25 miles east of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. I cannot help but notice that *every* article I have seen on this incident closes with essentially the same paragraph: Traverse City is a small town approximately NNN miles from SOME-LARGE-MICHIGAN-CITY. | #5 Video of bystanders with their guns drawn confronting a man Video is linked to online news coverage of the event. Time/place/person evidence is loosely linked to the video. There seems to be a real conspiracy of silence in national and world media about this part of the mass stabbing that (AFAICT) was terminated abruptly when bystander or bystanders drew their legal weapons and induced the stabber to stop stabbing. I have visited this exact Walmart many times on vacations. At the time of the stabbings, a Saturday afternoon in July, the store is usually jammed with huge numbers of weekend customers. I imagine many amateur videos were taken at the time, which may eventually surface. |
