Experts noted that the Solar Orbiter spacecraft is currently monitoring solar phenomena. According to scientists, activity has also been recorded on the far side, not visible from Earth.
“From July 11 to 12, 17 flares occurred on the Sun, which corresponds to an increase in flare activity of approximately three times compared to the average values for July,” the report said.
Scientists noted that the number of M-level flares will increase in the next couple of days. However, the increase in activity has not yet created any direct threats to Earth.
The laboratory believes that the change in solar activity is global in nature.
On June 18, during the monitoring of solar activity, a powerful X-class flare was registered. According to the Institute of Applied Geophysics, its strength was X1.2, and its duration reached 16 minutes.
