[Regnum] A new earthquake has occurred in Istanbul. This was reported on April 25 on the website of the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC).
New tremors were recorded at around 20:33 Moscow time. It is noted that the magnitude of the earthquake was 4.3, and its source was located at a depth of 7 km.
As reported by the Regnum news agency, on April 23, an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.2 was recorded in Istanbul. It began at about 12:50 Moscow time and lasted 10-15 seconds, followed by aftershocks.
The tremors, felt in several provinces, caused panic in Istanbul. The source was located at a depth of almost 7 km underground. As a result of the powerful tremors, at least 236 people were injured, there were no casualties.
Earlier on April 25, Haluk Eyidogan, a professor of seismology and a member of the Istanbul Municipality Council of Earthquake Scientists, said that a new large-scale earthquake was expected in Istanbul. According to the expert, it could affect the entire Marmara region with a population of more than 25 million people.
