“As a result of the powerful earthquake that occurred in Myanmar on March 28, 3,689 people died in the country, 5,020 were injured, and another 139 are missing,” the TV channel reported, citing the State Administrative Council of Myanmar.
On March 28, an earthquake was recorded in Myanmar, the magnitude of which, according to various estimates, was between 7.7 and 7.9. Its epicenter was near the city of Mandalay in Sagaing County, the second largest city in the country.
After the first earthquake, a second one with a magnitude of 6.4 occurred. In Mandalay, Naypyidaw and many other cities of the country, this caused destruction. Also on April 1, at a distance of 16 km from Mandalay, a new earthquake with a magnitude of 5 was registered.
By order of Russian President Vladimir Putin, specialists from the Ministry of Emergency Situations were sent to the republic, who are conducting rescue operations around the clock.
As reported by the Regnum news agency, on April 8, Russian rescuers inspected more than 126,000 square meters in search of people in Myanmar, of which seven objects were checked in a day on an area of more than 5,000 square meters. By that time, the Russian Emergencies Ministry employees checked the rubble of 82 buildings.
