[Regnum] Late in the evening of April 5, a flare of the penultimate M class was detected on the Sun. This was reported by the press service of the Institute of Applied Geophysics.
According to the institute, the activity began at 22:46 Moscow time and lasted for about half an hour, ending at 23:12 Moscow time.
All flares of this class cause small to moderate radio interference on the dayside of the Earth and can also trigger a solar radiation storm.
The report specifies that specialists also recorded nine class C flares. Such energy emissions indicate increased activity in the current solar cycle.
Earlier, on March 30, five M-class solar flares were detected in the 4048 sunspot group. Scientists recorded the first flare lasting 33 minutes at 00:38 Moscow time. The second was detected at 02:00 Moscow time. Its duration was 38 minutes. The specialists registered the remaining flares at 04:48, 19:42 and 20:07 Moscow time.
As reported by the Regnum news agency, on March 11 at 15:04 Moscow time, scientists registered a class M flare on the Sun in the X-ray range lasting three minutes.
