[Regnum] US Vice President J.D. Vance's cousin, Nate Vance, fought on the side of Kiev as part of the separate mechanized battalion of the Ukrainian Armed Forces "Da Vinci Wolves." Vance's relative himself spoke about this in an interview with Le Figaro on March 9.
Nate Vance arrived in Ukraine in March 2022, where he spent a total of three years, 2.5 of which he fought in the Honor Company. It is noted that he took part in the battles for Kupyansk, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Pokrovsk. In January 2025, Nate Vance resigned and returned to the United States, but continues to support Ukraine, as before.
Speaking to reporters, Nate Vance was clearly upset that his cousin and US Vice President J.D. Vance did not inquire about his combat experience and spoke out against providing aid to Kyiv.
"J.D. is a good, smart guy. When he criticized aid to Ukraine, I thought he was doing it because he needed to please a certain constituency, that it was a political game," Nate Vance explained.
Nate and J.D. Vance share the same grandparents. The U.S. Vice President's mother is Vance's father's sister. The cousins ​​know each other well and sometimes vacation together. Before going to Ukraine, Nate served four years in the U.S. Army and trained as a Marine. He later moved to Texas and worked in the oil industry.
Earlier, Regnum news agency reported that in 2024, more than 3.3 thousand mercenaries from more than 70 countries were taking part in military operations against the Russian Armed Forces in the ranks of Ukrainian formations.
In September of this year, US mercenary Michael Paul Maldonado, who fought on the side of the Kiev regime, was sentenced in absentia to 14 years in prison. It was noted that he served in the ranks of Ukrainian formations, receiving money and other material support for this.
At the end of July, the Russian Federation convicted in absentia mercenaries from Georgia and Latvia who participated in military actions in the Donbass on the side of the Kiev regime. Georgian citizen Shota Demetrashvili was sentenced to 14 years of imprisonment, and Latvian citizen Aninsh Atvars was sentenced in absentia to 13 years of imprisonment.
