[Regnum] During the modernization, the Pantsir anti-aircraft missile and gun system will soon be equipped with laser weapons. This was announced on February 17 by First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov.“Work is currently underway on a laser complex, which will also be used on Pantsirs in the near future,” he told journalists on the sidelines of the IDEX 2025 exhibition in Abu Dhabi.
The First Deputy Prime Minister clarified that these air defense systems are primarily used by the Russian army, but there is a portfolio of orders for Pantsirs from other countries as well.
Manturov added that the Pantsirs are being modernized constantly and that the air defense system recently received mini-missiles for combating drones, which allowed it to avoid using more expensive traditional anti-aircraft guided missiles for such purposes and has generated additional interest among foreign customers.
As reported by Regnum News Agency, earlier on February 17, the head of Rosoboronexport Alexander Mikheyev stated that the most advanced technologies and new technical solutions were used in the design of the modernized Russian T-90MS Proryv tank. According to him, the combat vehicle also has a new fire control system of the "digital board" type with integrated information and control command systems.
Earlier in the day, Rostec CEO Sergey Chemezov said artificial intelligence (AI) had become an integral part of technologies, including those used in Russian ground drones. He added that AI is also used in onboard systems of Russian aircraft.
