[Regnum] In South Sudan, 18 people were killed in a plane crash, Miraya radio reported on January 29.
“18 people were killed, three more were injured and are in critical condition,” the radio station said in a post on social media.
The incident occurred when the aircraft took off from the Unity oil field. There were 21 passengers on board, 16 of whom died. Two pilots also died in the incident. Information about the causes of the disaster has not been provided.

Earlier, Regnum news agency reported that nine people, including four soldiers, were killed in the crash of a civilian transport plane at Port Sudan airport. The military statement specified that the plane crashed due to a "technical malfunction" during takeoff.
