[Korrespondent] The Ukrainian Armed Forces are engaged in heavy fighting in the east and south of Ukraine.
The enemy is attacking most actively in the Pokrovsky direction. Clashes began in the areas of 13 settlements.
Since the beginning of the day, 101 combat clashes have occurred on the front. Half of the battles are taking place in the Pokrovsky and Kurakhovsky directions, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported in an operational report as of 16:00 on Thursday, January 9.
"Ukrainian troops are exhausting the enemy along the entire line of combat engagement and in the rear," the statement said.
Thus, in the Kharkov direction, one assault by enemy troops near Staritsa was repelled.
In the Kupyansk direction, the enemy attempted to advance five times during the day in the areas of Zapadnoye, Kucherovka, Petrovpavlovka and Zagryzovo.
In the Liman direction, 12 Russian attacks were recorded near the settlements of Zeleny Gai, Borovskaya Andreyevka, Kopanki, Tverdokhlebovo, Makeyevka, Grekovka and Ivanovka. Nine clashes are still ongoing.
In the Kramatorsk direction, three attacks by the occupiers have been repelled in the area of ​​Chasovy Yar. Not far from Belaya Gora, another clash continues.
In the Toretsk direction, the enemy tried to advance nine times in the areas of Toretsk and Shcherbinovka. Six combat clashes are currently ongoing.
In the Pokrovsk direction, the enemy initiated clashes of varying intensity 31 times. 20 attacks were repelled in the areas of the settlements of Baranovka, Mirolyubovka, Elizavetovka, Promin, Lisovka, Zelenoe, Zverovoe, Novy Trud, Pokrovsk, Kotlino, Uspenovka, Novovasilovka and Novoelizavetovka. Eleven combat clashes are still ongoing.
Fierce fighting continues in the Kurakhovsky direction near Serebryanoye, Andreyevka, Petrovpavlovka, Kurakhovo and Dachnoye. Our defenders repelled 16 enemy attacks, four more clashes are ongoing.
In the Vremovsky direction, the aggressors attacked seven times in the areas of the settlements of Yantarnoye, Konstantinopol and Razliv, one clash is still ongoing.
In the Dnieper direction, the Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled one enemy assault in the area of ​​Kazatsky Island.
In Kursk region our defenders repelled 11 attacks by the invaders, five clashes are still ongoing.
Let us recall that in the course of 24 hours on January 8, Russia lost more than 1,400 soldiers killed and wounded. The total losses of the aggressor country exceeded 800,000 people.
