The Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmitry Lubinets reported another war crime by Russia - the probable execution of three Ukrainian prisoners of war near the village of Neskuchnoye in the Volnovakha district of Donetsk Oblast. "We are once again witnessing atrocities that demonstrate the true face of the aggressor state. On January 3, Russian occupiers committed a terrible crime - they probably shot three Ukrainian prisoners of war," Lubinets noted.

The Ombudsman stressed that despite the fact that, according to the Geneva Conventions, prisoners of war are under special protection and no country has the right to torture them, abuse them or take their lives, Russia demonstrates disregard for international norms.
The Commissioner once again immediately contacted the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the United Nations, indicating that these organizations should condemn this crime and put pressure on the Russian side to stop such acts.
"Ukraine maintains its obligation to respect humanitarian law even during war, but we will not allow Russia to turn the world into a lawless territory. The guilty must be punished!" Lubinets said.
