[JustTheNews] The Pentagon on Friday announced that the United States was sending more B-52 bombers, fighter jets, and Navy destroyers to the Middle East as the Abraham Lincoln Carrier Group gets ready to leave the region.
The new deployments come as Israel continues its war with Hamas and its backer, Iran. The conflict has not shown any signs of slowing, even as the United States urges both sides to reach a ceasefire, or after Hamas faced multiple losses in its leadership in recent months.
Pentagon spokesperson Air Force Major General Patrick Ryder did not indicate how many U.S. troops would be stationed in the Middle East, but warned Iran and its allies not to attack U.S. forces.
"Should Iran, its partners, or its proxies use this moment to target American personnel or interests in the region, the United States will take every measure necessary to defend our people," Ryder said in a statement reported by Reuters. |
