Watch: High-speed chase between Mexican navy and drug boats |
2024-09-25 |
[BBC] Fifteen people were detained after the Mexican Navy seized 7,200kg of drugs, in two separate high-speed chases on 23 August. In a statement, Mexico's government said the seizure of "presumably cocaine" was the largest captured during their administration. Footage released by the navy shows how the operations took place off the coast of Mexico in the Pacific Ocean. The first was located near the city of Manzanillo and the second near Lazaro Cardenas. |

#2 Remind me again where Mexico destroys seized narcotics and the location of their evidence warehouse complex? On the west coast of the US for example, it is "Covanta Stanislaus Inc., a subsidiary of Covanta Holding Corporation, specializing in waste-to-energy and environmental services. The company primarily provides narcotics and evidence destruction services to federal agencies through its facility in Crows Landing, California. Covanta Stanislaus leverages its specialized waste-to-energy incineration capabilities to safely and compliantly dispose of seized contraband materials, supporting law enforcement and border security operations." Rather than risk ground transport of multi-millions of seized narcotics each month, DEA loads narcotics for destruction into their own secure transport vehicles and flies them via C-130 directly into the airfield for offloading at the incineration site. As a fun piece of obscura, consider the name Crows Landing, California, (a name derived from the US Navy use of the airfield to train enlisted pilots during WWII, and the Eagle in the enlisted sleeve rank insignia, hence "crows"). |
