| NYS Judge delays Trump sentencing in hush money case until November |

| [NBCnews] A New York judge has delayed former President Donald Trump's sentencing on felony criminal charges until Nov. 26. "This is not a decision this Court makes lightly but it is the decision which in this Court's view, best advances the interests of justice," Judge Juan Merchan wrote in the decision handed down Friday. Merchan issued the ruling after Trump's attorneys had asked him to postpone the Sept. 18 sentencing until after the election to allow them to appeal a pending ruling involving presidential immunity. | #9 New Trump Attorney General will toss the charges. This is in the New York State system, Besoeker, not the federal courts. A Trump attorney general is not automatically involved. On the other hand, the Department of Justice probably could prosecute the local prosecutor (Letitia James?) for shouldering in on an issue that properly belongs to the federales rather than at the state level… assuming that’s true. I am not a lawyer. Or they could pursue the judge, whose daughter’s employer (thanks, Frank G!) has a contract with the Harris campaign. Interesting times all around. |
