"Any offensive on El Fasher would be disastrous for Darfur’s civilians and only worsen the already dire situation in Sudan," Perriello said in a statement on Wednesday.
His comments come amid rising tensions in the region, fueled by reports that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) are blocking humanitarian aid
deliveries to El Fasher and restricting civilian movement."These actions only add to the suffering of the Sudanese people," Perriello added.
The U.S. envoy reiterated the U.S. position, urging all parties involved in the conflict to immediately cease attacks and uphold their commitments under international law, as well as the agreements reached at the recent Jeddah peace talks.
On Wednesday evening, the Sudanese air force targeted the RSF forces outside El-Fasher and in Mellit of the North Darfur state. Also, they bombed the paramilitary forces in Nyala of South Darfur.
