2023-10-15 |
[Southern Living] It's safe to say the tiny house has a robust and invested following and tiny house ideas have never been so abundant. Are you considering one for yourself? The pros are many—a simplified lifestyle, relief from the burden of maximalism, and not to mention there's less cleaning involved. And, let's face it. While a stately home is always a dream, it's not always practical or feasible. A tiny house? More so. And, lucky you, our Southern Living House Plans Collection has 25 tiny house floor plans for your consideration. #8 Until... My neighbor is almost a mile away. It's taxed as a improved storage building. |

#7 Back in 2015 I was getting quotes of about $125 to $150 sq/ft. for a WNC 1 story 2 bed / 2 bath cottage. Now its $250 to $275 a sq/ft., all depending on materials and availability. Jokingly started pricing inter-city houses that were looking at possible condemnation. These slap-board or cinder block 2/2's 1200 sq/ft. type homes, built in the 1950's, were going for $50+k's. Then builders wanted $120+k to renovate to code. |

#4 In my 'rural' part of the county, there are a lot of prefabs. Of course in New Mexico environment they seem to last a lot longer and don't face the usual threat of tornadoes being the magnets they are elsewhere. |

#2 I've heard it is currently difficult to find a house builder willing to even bid on building a 1000 sq ft house. The expected profit would be too small to warrant their consideration. |

#1 Pretty designs, though as they point out, most of the houses are merely small rather than actually tiny. My parents reared four children in a 1000 sq.ft. ranch house, and Mr. Wife’s parents reared two in a house of the same size, and none of us had any idea that we were suffering for it. |
