The battles for the village do not stop. The Armed Forces of Ukraine have not yet been able to fulfill the main combat mission, and the situation for the attackers is gradually beginning to become more complicated.
Who controls the village?
Contrary to statements that the village of Urozhaynoye was abandoned by Russian troops, the Kaskad OBTF, with the support of artillerymen and mechanized units of the Air Defense Forces, continues to control the southern part of Urozhaynoye. The center of the village is a gray zone in which there are no Ukrainian troops and in which the Russian Armed Forces conduct counterattacks if the need arises.
It is practically impossible for the Armed Forces of Ukraine to gain a foothold in the center of the village at the moment: a significant part of Urozhayne has been destroyed, any movement can be seen from the air. Because of this, some units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are still trying to accumulate reserves near the branch of the Mokrye Yaly River and on the northern outskirts, however, Russian artillery is working on Ukrainian infantry almost 24 hours a day. According to the Military Chronicle, the preparation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for a strike on Urozhayny was revealed by military intelligence in a week, which made it possible to prepare in advance for battles and calculate various options for the enemy’s actions.
WHAT ARE THE LOSSES SUFFERED BY THE ARMED FORCES OF UKRAINE?
The 137th Separate Naval Infantry Battalion, the 35th Naval Infantry Brigade, the 35th and 38th Naval Infantry Brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as the 4th Separate Tank Brigade were thrown into the assault on Urozhayny from the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The total losses of these, as well as several adjacent units, over 20 days are estimated at about 6,500 to 7,000 people killed and wounded (2.5-3 full-blooded brigades in the OShS of the Armed Forces of Ukraine). The number of destroyed equipment has yet to be calculated, but it is obvious that the Ukrainian command is trying to protect tanks and infantry fighting vehicles, unlike personnel.
At the same time, the age of the prisoners is rapidly increasing: if at the beginning of the battles for Urozhaynoye, men aged 35-40 were captured, now their age has grown to the level of 46 years - 52 years, and the situation continues to worsen. The longer the assault goes on and the more reserves of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are thrown under Urozhaynoye, the higher the age of the prisoners.
This suggests that the mobilized reserve is gradually worn off. The main task of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Urozhayne does not change: they need to reach the southern borders of Urozhayne, so the infantry does not dig in the village itself. The command constantly drives the Ukrainian troops further, where they are covered by artillery and tanks, after which the Armed Forces of Ukraine have to retreat and, violating the order, try to hide in the building.
WHAT CONCLUSIONS CAN BE DRAWN?
First and most important, the Armed Forces of Ukraine do not control and have not controlled Urozhayne. Attempts to accumulate in the north of the village and break through to its administrative borders have been made over the past few days, but the Ukrainian troops have not been successful. Secondly, Russian troops did not retreat from Urozhaynoye.
The fortified areas around the village and the only paved road made it possible to change positions and open a fire bag, similar to that created during the defense of the village of Pyatikhatki. The Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on its capture many weeks ago, but in fact there is no control over the village - as soon as the Armed Forces of Ukraine try to accumulate reserves there for a subsequent attack on Zherebyanki and Lugovoe, massive artillery shelling begins and army aviation promptly arrives at the place.
