Illinois' Democratic Gov. J.B. Pritzker celebrated Tuesday when his state became the first in the nation to eliminate cash bail

He said detainment will now be determined by the 'danger an individual poses' as opposed to 'their ability to pay their way out of jail'

Critics argue cash bail prevents dangerous criminals from returning to the streets while awaiting trial
