rallied in Brooklyn this week in support of Kyrie Irving...the Black Hebrew Israelites are one of the descendant groups of the mystical African-American nationalism movement of the turn of the 19th century. Their congregations range from pushing reasonably normal Black self-improvement/self-sufficiency with a mystic frosting to batshit crazy Black supremacist. Nation of Islam is another descendant of the same movement, but claiming to be the true Muslims as BHI are the true Hebrews. Nick Sandman and his Covington Catholic classmates encountered them on their Washington, DC school trip, just before they were confronted by that obnoxious professional “Native American” activist... - The Brooklyn Nets point guard recently made a return to the court after serving a suspension for promoting an anti-Semitic movie on Twitter
- In new videos, members of the group Members of Israel United in Christ can be heard chanting: 'It's time to wake up... we are the real Jews'
- Black Hebrew Israelites believe those of African descent are the real descendants of the biblical Hebrews
- Many on social media reacted with revulsion to the activities of the group with many comparing them to the 2017 white supremacist rioters in Charlottesville
...given that a good many of them were actually Antifa masquerading as conservatives, the comparison must stand.
The movement has expanded its presence in the United States, with churches sprouting up in Florida, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Oklahoma, and Oregon.
