Mystery as multi-millionaire Russian gas executive is found hanged and his wife and daughter, 18, hacked to death in their Spanish villa days after ex Gazprombank official and his family were discovered dead in Moscow flat

  • Sergey Protosenya, 55, is believed to have carried out the murder-suicide

  • He was found hanged in the courtyard of his holiday home in Spain, and his wife Natalia and their 18-year-old daughter were found murdered inside

  • Police are reportedly working to the assumption he killed them before taking his own life. However, reports suggest the evidence is not conclusive

  • It comes after another Russian businessman, Vladislav Avayev, 51, was found dead in Moscow with his wife Yelena, 47, and their younger daughter Maria

  • Both men, found just one day apart, had separate links to Russian gas companies

  • Protosenya, who had a fortune of over £330 million, was Deputy Chairman on the Board of Directors for natural gas company Novatek for seven years

  • Avayev was previously a vice president at Gazprombank - a bank that was created to work for Russian gas giant Gazprom - and had also been a Kremlin official
