[Epoch Times]Because cases are up - The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has extended the federal mask mandate for transportation for two more weeks, citing the small recent increase in COVID-19 cases. The order will remain in place until May 3, to let officials at the agency assess whether the BA.2 virus subvariant drives a fresh wave of cases.
Because cases are down -
The CDC’s move came after it said it would allow Title 42, a pandemic-era order that enabled quick expulsion of illegal immigrants because they may carry the virus that causes COVID-19, to expire.
Dr. Rochelle Walensky, the CDC’s director, said the action was taken because COVID-19 cases fell by over 95 percent between January and March and because more of the population has some form of immunity from vaccination and/or prior infection.
