As part of the implementation of the policy of preserving the unique cultural and historical heritage pursued by the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev , a project is being implemented to restore the former residence of Prince Romanov. Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Aziz Abdukhakomov told reporters on October 2."This is a unique project, which is being carried out under the patronage of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, international professionals in the field of architecture and restoration are involved in i," Abdukhakimov said.
According to him, the main goal of the project is to preserve this unique architectural monument and the adjacent park area for future generations.
"The palace will be recreated in its original form, in the form that existed at the time of its first owner. A lot of archival documents and photographs have been studied. Return the previous decor elements, ramp, park sculpture. In addition to marble and bronze sculptures that once adorned the residence, 120 pieces of painting and graphics, 20 pieces of furniture will return there," the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized.
Abdukhakimov noted that the main focus of the project will be the creation of an exhibition space in the former residence of Romanov, open to the public, as well as intended for social and cultural events.
The Palace of the Grand Duke was built in 1891 in the contemporary Art Nouveau style by the architects Benoit and Heinzelman. The graceful two-story building is decorated with carved lattices, unusual-shaped windows, towers and other decorative elements. The palace housed a library, a greenhouse and a winter garden.
