- Another officer was seen inserting a metal baton into Lurry's mouth
- Police whistleblower Sgt Javier Esqueda, who released the video, was later stripped of his badge and criminally charged
- May was handed a seven-day suspension in January 2021 for his conduct during Lurry's arrest
- Lurry's widow filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against May and other officers
- The Will County Coroner later determined that Lurry died of an 'accidental overdose' after swallowing fatal quantities of heroin, fentanyl and cocaine, and said that arresting police officers were not responsible for his death
Ah. That explains why the activists are making a fuss now.
