  • President Joe Biden is taking planes, automobiles - but not trains - to Philadelphia to mark Amtrak's 50th anniversary on Friday

  • Biden is making the trek to sell his American Jobs Plan infrastructure bill and his American Families Plan

  • He's also celebrating Amtrak because 'Amtrak Joe' is part of his political brand - the Delaware senator who commuted to D.C. daily

  • Biden had wanted to take Amtrak from Wilmington to Washington in the run-up to his inauguration but those plans got canned due to security concerns

  • On Friday, Biden will be introduced by a conductor who served the route he took when he was a frequent passenger

  • Also on display will be the latest Acela-type high speed train, which will go into service next year

  • As part of the American Jobs Plan, Biden wants to give Amtrak $80 billion for repair work, to improve the Northest Regional lines and expand service
