Plane study that found a 'virtually non-existent' risk of catching COVID-19 in-flight used 'bad math,' expert claims

  • A Department of Defense-funded concluded that there is a 'virtually non-existent' risk of coronavirus spreading on airplanes

  • The study called its results 'consistent' with other airliner pathogen spread research conducted by Dr David Freedman

  • But Dr Freedman refused to present the new study's findings, saying they were based on 'bad math'

  • He said that there could be unidentified infections that are traceable back to flights, but weren't accounted for in the new study

  • However, he also said the research is a good sign that the risk of transmission on flights likely is fairly low
