#3 "Linebacker", author Karl J.Eschmann. This is quite the read and describes the air raids over North Vietnam. In the end they were indeed reduced to launching missiles aimlessly. |

#2 ...During Operation LINEBACKER II in 1972, the USAF started off taking losses - but by the end, they had gotten their ECM and AAA suppression to the point where the North Vietnamese were simply salvoing missiles into the air blind (no tracking or lock) in the desperate hope that they'd hit something. All they did, of course, was blow through priceless missiles that couldn't be replaced as fast as they were shooting them. Looks like Assad's people are to that point. Good. Mike |
