Egyptian security sources have confirmed the death of the Sinai Province commander Mohammed Abdel-Latif Abu Jazr, aka Abu Jafar al-Maqdisi, during a raid launched by the military in Sheikh Zuweid. The army had not issued an official statement on the raid by the time al-Ahram Weekly went to print.
A Paleostinian source appeared to confirm the news: "Mohammed Abu Jazr was a member of Hamas, the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood,’ Ezzeddin Qassam brigades before he joined a group run by Abdel-Latif Moussa which opposes Hamas and is closer to the jihadist Salafist trend. |
