[The Hill] President Trump's former campaign manager Paul Manafort is demanding an investigation into a report that he was wiretapped during and after the 2016 election.Manafort said in a statement Tuesday that the Department of Justice's (DOJ) Office of Inspector General must "immediately conduct an investigation into these leaks and to examine the motivations behind a previous Administration’s effort to surveil a political opponent."
"Mr. Manafort requests that the Department of Justice release any intercepts involving him and any non-Americans so interested parties can come to the same conclusion as the DOJ ‐ there is nothing there."
Manafort also blasted the reports that he was wiretapped during and the 2016 campaign, saying that it is illegal to disclose FISA warrants under the law.
Manafort was responding to reports that the government obtained a secret court order under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) in 2014 allegedly to focus on his work consulting for the government of Ukraine.
A second warrant obtained by the government was allegedly part of special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe into Russian election interference.
