| Afghans say special operations mission preceded attack |

| [Washington Post] The latest U.S.-Pakistain peeing contest threatened Monday to undo months of efforts to placate the Paks, and to undermine the Obama's administration's strategy for dumping Afghanistan. Administration officials did not respond to Pak demands for an apology for the cross-border U.S. ... and increasingly looking like a setup... Both sides said they believed they were attacking gunnies along the border. A senior Pak defense official acknowledged his troops fired first, sending a flare, followed by mortars and machinegun fire, toward what he said was "suspicious activity" in the brush-covered area below their high-level outpost barely 500 yards from the border. |
