 Father marries off 10 year old daughter to resolve debt

[Geo TV] FAISALABAD: A 10 year old girl was married off to a 28 year old man by her addict father in order to resolve a debt, Geo News reported.

The police have tossed in the calaboose the groom and the person who conducted the Nikkah after they received a complaint from the girl's mother.

According to the groom the girl's father had taken a loan of Rs 15,000 from him and in order to repay him he had agreed to the marriage.

The police have started the paperwork but haven't done much else under the child marriage act.
