| Germany detains two in bomb plot | |

| German police have detained two men of Middle Eastern origin suspected of buying material for a bomb attack, said a police spokesman in Berlin on Thursday. They were identified as a 24-year-old German-Lebanese man and a 28-year-old from the Gaza strip.
This operation comes just two weeks before Pope Benedict is due to visit Germany and days before the tenth anniversary of the September 11 attacks. | |
