| US army burns the Bible in Afghanistan - 20 May 09 |

| Al Jazeera report: US soldiers brought Bibles translated to local languages to Afghanistan and distributed them, apparently against orders not to proselytize. These activities were stopped. The Bibles were confiscated and destroyed by burning. The same institution now officially criticizes a civilian in Florida for burning religious scripture. |
