(ANSA) - Ostuni, April 22 - A horse's head was delivered to a southern Italian official on Monday night, police said Tuesday.
An anonymous phone call told police to go to the engineering studio of the deputy mayor of this southern town. They found the head of the animal ''freshly cut off by expert hands''.
Police are inspecting local butchers' shops and have also started questioning people known to be linked to an illegal trade in butchered animals. According to police, the Mafia-style message sent to centre-left Deputy Mayor Vincenzo Pumes may be linked to his work as head of the town council's personnel office. |
