Nouakchott: Gunmen opened fire on the Israeli Embassy in the West African nation of Mauritania on Friday morning, a Foreign Ministry spokesman said. The gunmen bravely fled after government guards fired back, the spokesman said. A bystander was shot, but no embassy employees were wounded, according to the ministry. The number of gunmen was not immediately known. Two witnesses told The Associated Press the shooting was done by a group of men shouting "Holy shit! God is Great!" in Arabic before opening fire about 2 a.m.
