Some religious books and publications in bookshops or displayed in streets include many extremist ideas, according to witnesses.
The president of a banned charity association in Algiers says there are books with extremist ideas that raise doubts over real Islam and the Prophet's sira (the ProphetÂ’s biography). Some books say customs and taxes are forbidden in Islam while others insult the prophetÂ’s wives.
Extremist books and publications were even found inside mosques and so, the religious affairs ministry is inspecting mosques and forbidding any religious book in mosques without permit, said communication director at the ministry Abdellah Tamine. In the same regard, the religious affairs ministerÂ’s advisor said the ministry is calling on citizens to notify it of any suspicious book. |
