Boys as young as 12 may have carried out an armed robbery at a shop in Stranraer, it is believed. Police said the attack happened at Leafield Stores in the town's Woodland Road on Thursday afternoon.
Two people wearing balaclavas threatened the shopkeeper with what appeared to be a handgun.
Officers said the robbers made off with cigarettes and cash. They are thought to have made their escape from the area on two silver coloured mountain bikes.
