Dubai: The Al Ghusais Police has filed a fresh case against a Mexican gang. According to court sources, the four suspects will face a new trial at the Dubai Court of First Instance after Al Ghusais Police filed a fresh case against the gang on charges of stealing from residential villas. The gang of four identified as J.J., R.L., J.R. and A.M. were sentenced last month to three months in jail and deportation.The Dubai Public Prosecution appealed against the verdict. The two cases will now be heard by the end of this month. The defence lawyer told Gulf News earlier that evidence against his clients was "weak".
In March, police busted the gang for stealing laptops, computer equipment and other valuable electronic appliances and jewellery from villas while their occupants were away. Police arrested the suspects after setting a trap, following a number of complaints of burglary. The gang also used to send the stolen jewellery by cargo to an Asian country where the wife of one suspect owns a jewellery shop.
