BEIRUT - Israeli warplanes on Tuesday bombarded the main road linking Lebanon and Syria, cutting off the route which has been the main passage used by thousands trying to flee Lebanon, police said.Israeli jets have repeatedly bombed the road since starting the offensive against Lebanon last week, but up to now traffic had been able to navigate around the damage. Israel is saying it was targeting roads and bridges to prevent movement by Hezbollah.
