WASHINGTON - Sen. John McCain said he won't compromise on his proposed ban on the use of torture on prisoners. He's insisting on his language that no person in U.S. custody should be subject to "cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment or punishment." McCain said on NBC's "Meet the Press" that he's met several times with the president's national security adviser, Stephen Hadley, on the issue.While he won't compromise on the torture language, McCain said he and Hadley are in discussions "about other aspects of this to try to get an agreement." He didn't elaborate.
