654 Idaho Guard members in Iraq volunteer to stay on duty
2005-09-21
More than 650 soldiers with the Idaho Army National Guard serving in Iraq have signed up to stay on duty, setting a record for combat-zone re-enlistments, the 116th Brigade Combat Team's public affairs staff said. Sgt. 1st Class Jim Blake, the officer in charge of retention for the brigade, said the Idaho Guard members aimed to surpass the high of 400 re-enlistments achieved by the 256th Brigade Combat Team from Louisiana in July. The 116th eclipsed that, with 654 soldiers re-upping by Sept. 11. The Idaho Guard has about 1,800 soldiers in the 4,300-member brigade, which has been in northern Iraq since December. OORAH!
