Some 155 female motorists have been issued citations over the last two days for wearing veils while driving, say sources. On Tuesday, under the instructions of Assistant Undersecretary for Supportive Security Services at the Interior Ministry Maj. General Thabet Al-Muhanna said the General Traffic Department activated a traffic law, passed in 1984, which bans veiled women from driving. Sources said Director of the General Traffic Department Brigadier Suleiman Al-Muhailan decided to activate the law to prevent terrorists from escaping security check points by wearing veils.
