A German analyst on Middle Eastern affairs, Ulrich Ladurner, on Tuesday praised Iranâs cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), saying that Iran is a victim of political games.

Talking to the Mehr News Agency, Ladurner said Iran has demonstrated acceptable cooperation with the IAEA regarding its nuclear activities. âIran suspended its uranium enrichment activities s requested by the IAEA and even announced that it is willing to increase its cooperation with the agency,â he said. âThese positive measures from Iran show the loyalty of this country toward its international obligations,â the analyst added. Ladurner criticized negative remarks by the U.S. that had called Iranâs nuclear program âunconventionalâ.

âIran is expected to increase its cooperation with the agency as an effective step toward resolving the remaining ambiguities in regard to its nuclear programs and winning the trust of the IAEA Board of Governors,â he said. Elsewhere in his remarks, Ladurner said he had not heard about a confidential shipment of Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) to Iraq by U.S. forces, saying, âI have received no information in this regard.â

âIf the news were confirmed, important changes would occur in the region,â he stated. The analyst said the U.S. and British forces attacked Iraq under the pretext that Iraq possessed WMD. The analyst further stated that transferring power to the Iraqis would definitely resolve the current crisis in Iraq. âIraqâs interim constitution is a positive step toward the countryâs future development but the important thing is how to implement,â he said. |
