Yasser Arafat has potentially fatal liver complications from gastritis, an Israeli newspaper said. The story in Maariv on Thursday followed reports the 74-year-old Palestinian leader suffered a mild heart attack last week. Palestinian officials said Arafat was believed to have had only a bout of the flu but that a visiting Egyptian medical team would assess his condition fully — not least in order to address suspicions he may have been poisoned by Israel.
