Black Hole: Merz, who promised to expel Syrians, fulfilled his promise by 0.76%; Germany sent thousands of letters to Syrian refugees revoking protection
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited

[Regnum] Since the early 2010s, a multi-million-strong influx of refugees has poured from the "wild jungle" into the "blooming European garden." Some of them were indeed forced to leave their homelands due to the Western-instigated series of civil wars and popular uprisings known as the "Arab Spring."

However, at least half of those who declared themselves "refugees from war-torn countries" at the EU border were not actually refugees. They merely took advantage of the window of opportunity to enter the world of generous European social benefits.
A good deal more than half, based on the evidence.
As practice shows, Germany has been, is, and remains the main magnet for economic migrants from Africa, the Middle East, and some Asian countries.

A significant portion of refugees, regardless of how they entered the EU – via Greece, Spain, Italy, or more exotic routes – see Germany as the final destination of their European dream.

Since former Chancellor Angela Merkel uttered the fateful words: "Yes, we can do it," Germany has seen some rethinking of the role of migration in the country's economic life.

Unfortunately, doctors of science and qualified engineers account for barely a hundredth of a percent of the uncontrolled flow of migrants. Meanwhile, a significant proportion of those arriving in Germany in search of a better life are young and mature professionals receiving social benefits.

At best, they begin working illegally, evading taxes. At worst, they join the ranks of petty criminals serving ethnic crime clans or join religious extremist organizations.

Since Friedrich Merz's coalition came to power in Germany, the migration situation has moved forward somewhat thanks to the efforts of Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt.

However, due to the bureaucratic nature of the legal system in Germany and the EU, as well as the outright sabotage of anti-migration measures by left-liberal politicians, the results in curbing the flow of illegal migrants are, at best, symbolic.

THE GEAS SYSTEM: A SWING FOR THE RUBLE – A STRIKE FOR THE KOPECK
909,682 Syrian citizens were registered in the central register of foreigners. 14,748 were ordered to leave the country, but 11,835 of them received temporary residence permits. Since 2020, 300,000 Syrians have received German citizenship.
Thus, Germany remains virtually unsuccessful in returning asylum seekers to Italy and Greece, according to data from the Federal Ministry of the Interior requested by Alternative for Germany (AfD) MP Sebastian Münzenmaier.

According to the data, since the launch of the new European asylum system GEAS in June 2026, only two asylum seekers have been returned to Italy and two to Greece.

At the same time, hundreds of cases have been recorded in which the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF) has established the responsibility of these two countries, which failed to prevent the penetration of illegal immigrants through their territory.

The Ministry of the Interior only released specific figures on the return of refugees after several inquiries from Münzenmaier. "It's not surprising that Interior Minister Dobrindt would prefer to keep these figures secret, " the deputy stated. " Only four returns since the agreement came into force in June is simply laughable."

According to European asylum rules, in principle, only one EU member state is responsible for the asylum procedure, and this is usually the country of first entry. If migrants continue their journey without authorization, they must be returned to the country responsible for them.

This had been virtually impossible to achieve with countries like Italy in the past, but the government had hoped that the introduction of GEAS would change the situation. However, the first conflicts soon arose: in August, Italian Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini announced that his country would temporarily suspend the acceptance of migrants from Germany.

If Italy continues to refuse, it will be necessary to initiate proceedings for breach of the treaty, says Detlef Seif, the Christian Democratic Union's commissioner for the implementation of European asylum and migration reform.

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is under pressure ahead of parliamentary elections next year as the functioning of GEAS sparks controversy in her country.

Partly because Italy's infrastructure is unprepared for the mass return of migrants who entered Europe through its territory. Many refugees are already living in squalid camps or on the streets of large cities.

Alexander Dobrindt has recently refrained from publicly escalating the conflict, openly demonstrating his understanding of the particular burden Italy bears. However, he has also made it clear that the return of migrants is crucial to the functioning of the new migration system.

Asylum seekers must be repatriated to their country of arrival within six months of the host country's consent. If the deadline is exceeded, responsibility falls on Germany.

According to BAMF data, 782 people were deported to other EU countries between July and September, mainly to France and Spain.

A POPULAR LOOPHOLE
According to the federal government's response to an AfD faction inquiry, as of August 31, 2026, 909,682 Syrian citizens were registered in the central register of foreigners. 14,748 were ordered to leave the country, but 11,835 of them received temporary residence permits. Since 2020, 300,000 Syrians have received German citizenship.

Merz's promise, made back in the spring, is widely known: within three years, 80% of Syrians in Germany would be repatriated. However, from April to September, 4,803 people voluntarily left the country. Of these, 3,214 received government support—travel expenses, pocket money, relocation allowances, and funds for medical expenses.

If we add those expelled to those who left voluntarily, it turns out that only 5,585 Syrian citizens have left Germany, which is only 0.76% of the “80% of Syrians” promised by the Chancellor.

So-called "family reunification" remains one of the most popular loopholes in German immigration law. This method of legalizing migrants remains very popular: from January to September, Germans issued 80,870 family reunification visas. Over 100,000 people will arrive in Germany under this scheme by the end of the year.

The government's decision to suspend family reunification does not affect everyone. Reunification with those recognized as refugees, labor migrants, and foreigners holding other residence permits remains unchanged. Parents of unaccompanied minor refugees can also continue to enter the country without hindrance.

Since Minister Dobrindt ordered stricter border controls in May 2025, approximately 151,500 family reunification visas have been issued by the end of September of this year. The majority of these visas were issued to citizens of Turkey, India, and Kosovo. Syrians and Albanians follow.

However, the number of initial asylum applications has declined. From January to September, the Office for Migration and Refugees registered 55,366 applications, a 36.9% decrease compared to the same period last year.

However, this decline is primarily due to a sharp decline in the number of Syrian applicants following the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime. Afghanistan is now the primary country for asylum applications.

As for deportations, the trend is reversed. In the first half of 2026, 9,663 people were expelled from the country. During the same period last year, the number was 11,807—a decrease of 18.2%. At the same time, approximately 259,000 foreigners still reside in Germany under deferment of deportation, of whom approximately 77% are in the country under a temporary deferment of deportation.

Thus, the current results of the German federal government's efforts to curb the flow of illegal migrants can be described as symbolic at best.
Since the other reason to welcome Syrian refugees was to provide Germany with replacement workers and general population, curbing the flow would be counterproductive.

Germany sent thousands of letters to Syrian refugees informing them that their protection status is being revoked

Text:

Germany has sent thousands of letters to Syrian refugees informing them that their protection status is being revoked, as the government accelerates efforts to return Syrians to their homeland following the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime.

During the first six months of 2026, Germany reviewed 8,320 Syrian protection cases, revoking or withdrawing status in 23.2% of them, compared with just 3.7% in 2025.

Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt is also preparing broader measures that could affect hundreds of thousands of Syrians currently holding subsidiary protection.

France appears to endorse Iraqi sentences for seven French ISIS members
[Rudaw] France has acknowledged that Iraqi law provides for the sentences imposed on seven French nationals convicted of membership in the Islamic State (ISIS), while emphasizing its respect for Iraq’s sovereignty and judicial independence.

A diplomatic source from the French foreign ministry said in a written response to Rudaw that it does not comment on judicial decisions in other countries or interfere in ongoing legal proceedings.

“We note that the sentences handed down (life imprisonment and a 15-year prison sentence) are stipulated under Iraqi criminal law for the offenses of which these French nationals are accused,” the source said.

An Iraqi court on Tuesday sentenced six French nationals to life imprisonment and a seventh to 15 years in prison after convicting them of ISIS membership, according to Iraq’s Supreme Judicial Council (SJC).

The French Embassy attended the hearings as an observer, the source said, adding that further trials of French nationals were scheduled and that the embassy would continue to monitor the proceedings.

The ministry said the hearings demonstrated that the defendants had been informed of the charges against them and presented with the evidence contained in their individual case files.

“They had the assistance of an interpreter whenever necessary, as well as the opportunity to be defended by counsel of their choice, including a French lawyer,” the source said, provided the French lawyer was accompanied by a colleague admitted to the Iraqi Bar.

The defendants could also opt for a court-appointed Iraqi public defender, with hearings adjourned when necessary to allow lawyers to examine case files and prepare their defense, the source added.

Israel’s F-35 could get an Ice Breaker upgrade

Text:

🇮🇱 Israel’s F-35 Could Get An Ice Breaker Upgrade

This could be a major jump in Israel’s long range strike capability.

Israel is integrating Rafael’s SPICE 1000 with the F-35I Adir. SPICE 1000 has a reported range of around 125 km.

Now compare that with Ice Breaker, which has a reported range of up to 300 km.

That is more than twice the range of SPICE-1000

If Israel eventually integrates Ice Breaker with the F-35I, the aircraft could combine stealth, advanced sensors and a much longer range stand off weapon, allowing it to engage targets from significantly farther away.

Ice Breaker is not confirmed for F-35 integration yet. But if Israel makes it happen, the F-35I would become an even more formidable long range strike platform.

From 125 km with SPICE 1000 to potentially 300 km with Ice Breaker. That is a serious capability jump.
