[NYP] The deadbeat dad who allegedly pushed his estranged girlfriend and their 8-month-old daughter off a 15th-floor Bronx apartment balcony — killing the young mom and critically wounding their baby — has been taken into custody by the United States Marshals Service.
Angel Carrasco, 31, was nabbed by the US Marshals Wednesday evening, a day after he allegedly lost his cool and flew into a deadly rage after he failed to reconcile his relationship with his baby’s mom.
Carrasco allegedly shoved Nathaly Ramirez, 23, to her death while she clutched the couple’s infant, Angel Novalty Carrasco-Ramirez, in the early hours of Tuesday, law enforcement sources told The Post.
Officers found the mother and baby girl on the ground with injuries consistent with a fall from an elevated position, the NYPD said.
The pair was rushed to Jacobi Hospital, where Ramirez was pronounced dead and her tiny daughter remains fighting for her life in critical condition, cops said.
“This horrific tragedy weighs heavily on every team member who worked this case,” US Marshal Ricky J. Patel said in a statement to The Post.
Carrasco has been on the run since he fled the scene on Tuesday, where he left behind a bouquet of flowers he had apparently hoped would smooth over the couple’s troubled relationship before things took a deadly turn, according to sources.
Earlier Wednesday, the NYPD put out a wanted poster, featuring a chilling image of the alleged killer playing with a large kitchen knife in what appears to be an elevator.
“We owed it to the brave mother who gave her life to save her child from a vicious individual,” Patel said of the arrest. “While nothing can undo this terrible loss, taking this suspect off the street ensures he will answer for his alleged heinous actions.”
The suspected shover has a history of domestic violence-related incidents and was charged with assault twice in separate domestic spats earlier this year, sources told The Post.
Carrasco was busted on Jan. 5 for allegedly slapping Ramirez and leaving her bruised after she complained about him chatting with an ex-girlfriend, the sources said.
[NYP] The southern Ohio community made famous by Vice President JD Vance’s childhood memoir “Hillbilly Elegy” has been rapidly colonized by thousands of migrants from Uzbekistan who run shady, accident-prone trucking operations with glaring red flags for safety violations, The Post discovered.
Locals say the sudden invasion has rattled the quaint, conservative community. One local school district is now 12% non-English speaking students, with most from Central Asia. A sprawling, multi-million dollar mosque also is under construction in tiny Maineville, Ohio.
Dozens of Uzbek-owned commercial trucking companies in Butler and Warren counties operate out of shared residential addresses, log millions of impossible annual mileage and claim to own thousands of phantom big rigs. And they’re exploiting New York’s leftist laws to get away with it.
One company, Badri B LLC, reported on federal Department of Transportation (DOT) paperwork to own 23,001 trucks — all operating out of a single apartment in Loveland, Ohio.
“It’s bad. I first noticed this stuff around 2020, 2021 but it started getting really bad a year or so ago,” one local resident told The Post.
“When [a trucking company] has too many violations, and they can’t get any more loads because they’re flagged as an unsafe carrier, they will just open a new company so they can keep going,” the concerned citizen claimed.
Maineville — just 25 miles from Vance’s hometown of Middletown — became an overnight freight hub with 267 active commercial trucking companies registered in the village of just 1,500 residents.
Twenty-two residential addresses in Maineville hold two or more trucking companies registered. Industry experts said that’s a red flag for so-called “chameleon companies,” truckers who easily escape their accident-prone, violation-riddled driving record by simply registering a new company through the DOT, usually under the same address and phone number.
Nearby in West Chester, Ohio, one address is home to a whopping sixteen companies. Another West Chester company run out of a single apartment unit, Shod Express LLC, claimed 41 million miles in 2025 across 52 drivers according to DOT records.

West Chester is where I live. The housing ranges from at least one Section 8 apartment complex to new-built million dollar plus McMansions with all the bells and whistles. Yesterday I noticed that the strip shopping center that had an Uzbek restaurant now also has a small Uzbek grocery store and an Uzbek martial arts studio.
[DM] An Arizona doctor will spend nearly eight years behind bars for a massive healthcare fraud scheme that saw his business rake in $36.5 million in just six months.
Dr Irfan Fazil, 54, was accused of being the mastermind behind a multimillion dollar scheme involving bogus treatments, so called ‘phantom billing’ and even siphoning stolen cash overseas to Dubai and Pakistan.
He was indicted in June on a sweeping list of felony charges, including fraud, theft, conspiracy and drug offenses, before admitting his guilt just months later.
Last week, Fazil, who had twice been voted a top kidney doctor, was sentenced in Yuma County Superior Court to seven and a half years in prison, according to Arizona's state attorney general.
Attorney General Kris Mayes also revealed that he will serve seven years of probation after his release for the scheme targeting the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS).
'Dr Fazil abused his position as a physician to steal more than $36 million from a taxpayer funded program that exists to provide health care to Arizona's most vulnerable residents,' Mayes said.
More details have since been released about Fazil’s shocking scheme, involving a doctor who, along with his wife, once lived a life of luxury through their glittering medical empire.
The couple starred in their own YouTube health show, published a glossy charity magazine and amassed private planes and luxury cars as Fazil built a reputation as a respected healthcare professional.
But behind the scenes, Mayes said he used three entities, Bio Family Clinic Inc, Yuma Mobile X-Ray and Yuma Kidney and Dialysis, to bill AHCCCS tens of thousands of dollars for radiology services between July 1 and December 31.
In less than a year, his businesses collected more than $36 million from the state’s Medicaid program by billing for X-rays, ECGs, CT scans, ultrasounds and other medical treatments.
Two and a half years earlier, the doctor had pulled in only $4.7 million, with the amount paid on their claims later soaring by nearly 671 percent, the office said.
A closer look at the 27 patients with the highest billing volumes revealed that one patient’s account had been billed for hundreds of radiology services, including more than 1,700 X-rays in just months.
The attorney general’s office described the staggering figure as a ‘physically impossible number that would have caused serious harm from radiation exposure.’
'He billed for thousands of X-rays and other medical treatments that could not possibly have been performed, and treated by AHCCCS as his personal bank account,' Mayes said in the press release.
Kara Carson, who was a patient of Fazil’s alongside her father for around 15 years, said she first suspected fraud when her insurance company called to ask whether she was still in a wheelchair and still had tubes in her throat.
'As you can clearly see, there is no tube in my throat. I never had one. I am not in a wheelchair. I very much can walk just fine, and I have MS, is what I’ve been told. That was all news to me,' she told AZFamily.
At his October 2 sentencing, Fazil’s punishment went beyond years behind bars, with a judge also ordering him to forfeit all of his assets.
Among them are real estate, medical facilities, vehicles, multiple aircraft, jewelry, luxury handbags, US currency, cryptocurrency and gold bars, according to the attorney general.
Born, raised and educated in Pakistan, Fazil later became a naturalized US citizen while maintaining close personal ties to his homeland and the glitzy Gulf emirate of Dubai, according to evidence presented at a June bond hearing.
Prosecutors said his wife owns an operating clinic in Dubai, while Fazil’s brother was previously deported from the US to Pakistan. Bank records allegedly showed roughly $1 million flowing from Fazil’s accounts to Dubai and Pakistan.
His wife, who helped run their flagship Bio Family Clinic along with two other suspect medical centers in Yuma and a clinic in Dubai, was never formally charged.
Fazil also reportedly crossed the US Mexico border on foot during his travels and frequently used his private fleet of small aircraft to get around.
According to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), his personal pilot and other close associates have alleged ties to Mexican drug cartels.
Medical staff who once worked for the disgraced doctor previously told the Daily Mail they lost paychecks, scrambled to find new jobs and suffered lasting damage to their professional reputations.
One former staffer said colleagues suddenly lost both wages and access to their 401(k) retirement savings.
‘They got greedy and got busted before he could get out of Dodge,’ a source said. ‘He will probably not see the light of day, and he will probably serve time for it.’
As part of the plea deal, Fazil agreed to surrender his medical license and pay over $36 million in restitution to the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System.
[BB] Tarek “Joey” Kadourah, who worked as a site supervisor for the contractor MVM during the Biden administration, described the operation in an interview posted on Logan’s show Going Rogue. He said he oversaw around 60 agents transporting unaccompanied migrant children out of a San Diego site starting around March 2021.
Kadourah said he took the job believing the children were being reunited with relatives. Within a week, he said, that story fell apart.
“I was led to believe that I was actually saving trafficked children. That’s the way they described it to me,” he said. “However, when I showed up within the first week, it was obvious that that’s not what was happening.”
Agents reported that the adults picking up children often weren’t family, he said. Some kids told them so directly. Kadourah said paperwork sometimes looked forged, and that some people collecting children had visible gang tattoos.
One veteran agent flagged a pickup to him, he recalled: “There’s two guys with prison tattoos picking up a kid from us. What’s going on, Joey?”
When he brought those concerns to his supervisor, Kadourah said, he was shut down. “They’ve been vetted. Everything’s okay. Keep your mouth shut. Just keep doing the job,” he said he was told.
He described roughly 1,500 children held indoors for months at an emptied-out San Diego stadium, staff made to sign non-disclosure agreements, and a rule barring workers from going to local law enforcement. He said agents reported children crying and trying to run when transport vans stopped for gas. He was marked ineligible for rehire after months on the job, he said, and has faced what he described as intimidation since speaking out.
Kadourah told the same account on the record to the Daily Signal in September, which reported that children were driven to adults they did not recognize and that agents were told not to bring them back.
The interview follows Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem’s launch of the Unaccompanied Alien Children (UAC) Safety Verification Initiative, an operation to locate children placed with unvetted sponsors. DHS has said the Biden administration lost or placed roughly 450,000 unaccompanied children with unvetted sponsors and that it has located more than 24,400 in person. Kadourah characterized a related MVM welfare-check contract as a cover-up, DHS has presented the verification effort as a rescue operation.

[DM] The Texas mother who allegedly stabbed her two young children and their father in a horrifying early-morning rampage was struggling with postpartum depression, according to her recovering husband.
Holly Flores, 37, is accused of attacking her husband Justin Hommel, 34, and their 3-year-old daughter and 10-month-old son inside the family's home in Northlake, north of Dallas, early Tuesday morning.
Hommel called 911 around 4.20 a.m. after fighting off his wife, who had allegedly stabbed him and both children.
When officers arrived, they found Hommel outside the home holding the kitchen knife allegedly used in the attack, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by Fox 4.
Police detained Flores and rushed into the home, discovering the couple's daughter and baby boy lying on a bed, covered in blood.
As Flores was placed in an ambulance, she told officers she 'wanted to kill herself and she no longer wanted to live,' according to the affidavit.
But the nightmare had begun hours before the bloody attack, when Hommel awoke to the sound of his wife repeatedly trying to ignite a lighter.
Hommel told investigators he had been sleeping on the couch to help his wife, who he said had been struggling with postpartum depression since giving birth to their son 10 months earlier.

The police chief also revealed that cops had been called to the family’s address around five times since March, adding that most of the calls were for welfare concerns.
“I don’t want to say anything out of context right now, so some of that information will probably come out later,” he replied when asked to elaborate.

I'm going to ask it.
Is this from being on the pill her entire post-juvenile life and now that she isn't on the pill, her hormone balances are totally bonkers?
Consider these women have had their entire adult body and mind default as with child, and when not on the pill anymore the body and mind has no other reference point.
Throw in an anti-depressant/anxiety pill and a box of wine, and they advertising coco puffs.
[FoxNews] Andrew Darrick Tanaka allegedly shot a woman in the shoulder and fired into multiple vehicles on Interstate 35 in Iowa
An Iowa man accused of opening fire on passing vehicles along an interstate and wounding a woman allegedly made a chilling admission to police after his arrest, according to court documents.
Andrew Darrick Tanaka, 27, of West Des Moines, faces four counts of attempted murder in Monday afternoon's shootings along Interstate 35 in Warren County, according to the Iowa Department of Public Safety.
After being taken into custody, Tanaka allegedly told law enforcement, "I had to kill people today," according to a criminal complaint and affidavit filed Tuesday in Warren County District Court.
The incident began around 3:31 p.m. Monday when authorities received multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire along the northbound lanes of I-35.
Tanaka was driving a black Chevrolet Equinox when a woman driving a black BMW passed him on the interstate, according to the affidavit. The BMW then passed a Subaru Outback.
Investigators allege Tanaka caught up to the Subaru and fired at least two rounds through the driver's side window, striking the woman behind the wheel in her left shoulder.
He then allegedly caught up to the BMW and fired another round through its driver's side window.
Tanaka continued north before rear-ending a gray Nissan Altima carrying two people, according to the affidavit.
When the Nissan's occupants stopped to check on him, Tanaka allegedly got out of his vehicle with a handgun and fired at least one round into the car's windshield.
Deputies from the Warren County Sheriff's Office, officers from the West Des Moines Police Department and Iowa State Patrol troopers responded to reports of gunfire near mile marker 56.
Officers found the wounded woman and several vehicles that appeared to have been struck by gunfire. The woman was taken to a hospital with injuries that authorities said did not appear to be life-threatening.
Police later found Tanaka along the interstate after his vehicle became disabled after the collision.
He was standing on the shoulder of the highway holding a handgun when officers arrived, according to the affidavit. Tanaka was taken into custody without further incident.
The shootings prompted authorities to shut down the interstate for several hours while investigators processed the scene.
Tanaka was booked into the Warren County Jail on four counts of attempted murder.

[Regnum] In the US, a 14-year-old schoolgirl gave birth to her own father's child, then dumped the baby on the highway and ran away. The newspaper reported this on October 7.LA Times.
The body of a newborn baby was discovered on August 1 near a highway in Monterrey County, California. It was later discovered that the mother was a 14-year-old schoolgirl who had been impregnated by her father, Sergio Galvez Perez. By the time the baby's body was discovered, the man and his daughter had already fled.
The schoolgirl's mother, Ofelia Garcia Ortega, was arrested on suspicion of child endangerment but released after posting $50,000 bail. The fugitive father and daughter were soon located in Mexico.
Not Americans, then, but illegals who brought their tragically bad traditions with them.
The schoolgirl was transferred to the custody of a local child protection agency, and the man was detained. He was charged with incest, child abuse, and causing grievous bodily harm to the victim.
[BBC] The computer scientist behind groundbreaking research that helped land Nasa's astronauts on the Moon, has died aged 90.
Margaret Hamilton was a trailblazer in her field, leading the team who developed the software for Nasa's Apollo missions, which coined the term "software engineering".
Hamilton's former employer, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), confirmed her death, adding she died on 30 September.
"To say Hamilton was a pioneer - to say she was ahead of her time - would be a dramatic understatement," MIT said in its statement, before acknowledging that she was a software engineer before it was mainstream.
Hamilton worked at MIT from 1959 until the mid-1970s and managed the Software Engineering Division.
It was in this division that she led a team of engineers writing and testing all onboard in-flight software for Nasa's Apollo 11 project that guided US astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin to land safely on the Moon.
"I was attracted both by the sheer idea and the fact that it had never been done before. I was the first programmer to join and the first woman they hired," she told the Guardian in 2019.
In 1969, moments before the historic Apollo 11 Moon landing, an onboard computer raised an alarm, signalling an error was occurring.
The error detected the computer was overloaded, and for a moment it looked like the complex landing might not be achieved.
But Hamilton and her team had planned for such an error by engineering "priority-driven software" to shut down any background tasks and favour the most important - the Moon landing - according to MIT.
The team's famous software engineering was immortalised in a 1969 photograph of Hamilton standing beside the stack of printed code that towered beside her.
[NYP] A Texas man convicted of killing a convenience store clerk during a robbery was executed Wednesday evening after the Supreme Court declined to halt the execution, despite his attorneys raising concerns about the lethal injection drug used in a failed execution attempt in Tennessee last week.
Jamaal Howard, 46, was pronounced dead at 8:03 p.m. He was sentenced to death for the 2000 killing of 42-year-old Vickie Swartout in Silsbee, Texas.
Prior to Howard’s execution, his attorneys pointed to the failed execution of Tennessee death row inmate Christa Pike, who survived two doses of pentobarbital on Sept. 30, arguing that the same drug Texas planned to use could pose similar risks.
“Texas should not be eager to follow in Tennessee’s footsteps; a stay would keep that from happening,” Howard’s attorneys argued in their filing.

It is my understanding that Christa demanded an all-female execution team because being sent on her way by men would be traumatizing. For some reason, this was granted.
Sadly, the girls blew it. Not a doctor, but it sounds like they missed the vein. Twice.
[KhaamaPress] Authorities in Afghanistan’s western Herat ...a venerable old Persian-speaking city in western Afghanistan, populated mostly by Tadjiks, which is why it's not as blood-soaked as areas controlled by Pashtuns... province have banned the sale and public flying of kites, according to a statement.
Kite flying in Afghanistan is a viciously competitive sport, with glass coating on the string used to cut through the strings of opposing kites… and reportedly occasionally injuring or killing bystanders and other nearby obstacles. The Taliban historically objected to any kind of fun — music, singing, dancing, women walking freely outside with uncovered faces, men appearing without beards in Western garb, all the usuals — and have been sequentially forbidding it all again.
The Taliban ...mindless ferocity in a turban... ’s Ministry for the Propagation of Virtue and Prevention of Vice in Herat has announced a ban on the sale and purchase of kites and kite-flying equipment in the province, according to a statement issued by the ministry’s provincial authorities.
Aziz Rahman Mohajer, head of the Taliban’s Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice in Herat, said officials had instructed religious inspectors to prevent the sale of kites and kite strings across the city.
Mohajer said the decision followed repeated complaints from residents, claiming that kite flying and kite strings had contributed in some cases to traffic accidents, public harassment and injuries to children.
The Taliban official did not provide details of specific incidents or statistics on injuries or accidents linked to kite flying. The authorities also did not specify whether the ban applies to all kite flying in the province or primarily to sales and flying in public areas.
Kite flying, known in Afghanistan as gudiparan bazi, has long been a popular traditional pastime in the country. Historical accounts describe kite flying as a widespread cultural activity before the Taliban’s first rule, when the group banned the pastime along with a range of other recreational activities.
The restriction echoes the Taliban’s first period in power from 1996 to 2001, when kite flying was among several recreational activities banned by the group. Rooters photographs from Kabul in 2006 and 2017, however, documented kite flying as a visible part of Afghanistan public life after the Taliban’s first government was removed.
The latest measure adds to restrictions imposed by the Taliban on recreational and cultural activities since returning to power in 2021. The group’s Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice has played a central role in enforcing social rules, including restrictions on women’s dress and public activities. UN reporting has documented increased enforcement of such restrictions in Herat in recent months.

[Regnum] In Salvador, Brazil, a wild capuchin monkey entered a residential building, drank alcohol, and began attacking people. This was reported by the local publication UOL.
According to the publication, the animal climbed into one of the apartment complex's windows and found alcohol and some pills in the apartment. This provoked the monkey to become agitated, and it began attacking people. Law enforcement officers who arrived on the scene managed to capture the animal using a net and leather gloves.
Three residents of the complex and a security guard were injured in the attack. They were taken to the police station to give statements and have the incident recorded. The capuchin was taken to a wildlife triage center. After examining it, veterinarians reported that the animal was extremely weak and required medical attention.
In early August, an aggressive monkey was captured on the Indonesian island of Sumatra. It had attacked 18 people, including children and the elderly, over the course of two weeks. The series of attacks forced the temporary closure of dozens of schools in the region.
[NorthPress] Six Syrian sailors are missing after the cargo ship Alpha Vatan sank in the Black Sea off Bulgaria following a drone attack, Bulgarian media reported on Wednesday.
The commercial cargo vessel sank late Tuesday after it was targeted by drones in Bulgaria’s exclusive economic zone in the Black Sea, according to Bulgarian media.
The vessel, owned by a Turkish company and sailing under the flag of Togo, was carrying a six-member crew and was heading to the Romanian port of Sulina.
Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev said drones targeted two vessels in the country’s exclusive economic zone late Tuesday, causing a fire on one ship and sinking the other.
Radev said Bulgarian authorities did not yet have precise information about the party behind the drone attacks.
Bulgarian media said they contacted Syrian media outlets in Latakia, which confirmed that six Syrian sailors were aboard the Alpha Vatan.

City authorities have established a response center to deal with the aftermath of the tanker attack. The open fire on the vessel has been extinguished. Rescue vessels remain on duty, monitoring the waters and coastline. The tanker is drifting along the coastline of Sochi's Lazarevsky District.
"No oil spills were recorded, and air and water quality monitoring results are within regulatory limits," noted Sochi Mayor Andrei Proshunin.
On the evening of October 6, a tanker caught fire in the Black Sea off the coast of Sochi. The vessel was attacked by unmanned boats of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The tanker had a crew of 23, all Indian citizens. They were rescued.
SOFIA, Oct 7 (Reuters) - Bulgaria has halted its search for the missing crew of a ship that sank after being hit by a drone about 70 nautical miles (130 km) off its coast, Vice-Admiral Rumen Nikolov of the Maritime Administration Executive Agency said on Wednesday.
Early on Tuesday, two ships were hit in a drone attack in Bulgaria's Black Sea exclusive economic zone. One sank and the other was damaged. The crew of the damaged ship were rescued, but the crew of the sunken one remain missing.
Nikolov said 12 crew members were believed to have been on board the ship which sank, all of them from Syria. The rescue operation will not resume, he added.
"There are no traces of the sailors from the first ship, and there will be none. There is also no information about drone remains," he told reporters.
"A boat, three life rafts and parts of the ship's equipment have been found."
It was not immediately clear who carried out the attack involving air and sea drones in waters off the coastal town of Byala in eastern Bulgaria, but there are growing concerns about hybrid attacks by Russia as it wages war in Ukraine.
[Reuters] Microsoft (MSFT.O), opens new tab unveiled on Wednesday an AI coding model that can run directly on personal computers and new security technology to prevent AI agents from accessing data without permission, challenging Apple's push to bring more AI into personal devices.
The software company also presented at the event in San Francisco a high-powered Surface laptop called Ultra powered by Nvidia's RTX Spark chips. Redmond, Washington-based Microsoft is seeking to turn Windows into a platform for AI agents to handle tasks such as writing computer code or tackling complex business projects on desktops and laptops.
For Microsoft, the move represents a bet that some work that currently happens in its costly Azure cloud computing data centers can shift to high-powered Windows machines in businesses and homes, a market where the firm retains a stronghold — and where its customers foot the hardware bills. It is a market opportunity rival Apple is also chasing with new Mac computers.
For Nvidia, cracking the Windows PC market could help it go after one of the last major markets dominated by Intel and Advanced Micro Devices.
As a guardrail against increasingly autonomous AI agents that have created security risks, Microsoft said it was releasing Microsoft Execution Containers, a tool to prevent agents from accessing data and doing unauthorized tasks when running on a laptop or desktop machine. Anthropic, OpenAI and Nvidia will use the tools, said Pavan Davuluri, executive vice president for Windows and devices.
“We needed to make the desktop the most secure place for agents to execute,” Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said.
Davuluri said new tools would let IT departments set rules for agents and the Windows operating system would enforce those rules on each employee’s machine.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, who joined Nadella on stage, said Microsoft’s new execution container technology, which goes by MXC for short, "is going to revolutionize how agents are built and deployed.”
“Without it, (agents are) a complete nonstarter,” he said.
Nvidia is trying to prevent a repeat of the hack of AI hub Hugging Face, while Apple is looking to tighten up the process for giving AI agents full access to a Mac computer's hard drive.

So how long before the big 3 develop a process to kill linux connections?
#2
[AI] The query reads a bit garbled, but the core question appears to be **how to kill/terminate Linux network connections**. Here are the main approaches:
**Kill the process (closes its connections):**
```bash
# Find the PID using a port
sudo lsof -i :
sudo fuser /tcp
# One-liner: kill everything on a port
sudo fuser -k /tcp
```
**Kill a specific TCP connection without killing the process:**
```bash
# tcpkill (from dsniff package) — sends RST to the connection
sudo tcpkill -i eth0 host and port
```
**Block connections with iptables/nftables:**
```bash
# Drop packets for a specific connection
sudo iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --dport -s -j DROP
sudo iptables -A OUTPUT -p tcp --sport -d -j DROP
```
**View active connections first:**
```bash
ss -tnp # TCP connections with process info
netstat -tnp # older alternative
```
> **Note:** You generally **cannot** kill a single TCP connection in isolation without affecting the owning process. The kernel closes all of a process's sockets when the process is killed. `tcpkill` is the closest you get to surgically killing one connection by sending a TCP RST.

[NYP] President Trump’s midterm election rally in Texas Wednesday was interrupted by several protesters, some of whom shouted down an angel mom talking about how two criminal illegal immigrants murdered her son.
About twelve people disrupted the San Antonio rally within the first 45 minutes of the president’s remarks, which focused on portraying the Lone Star State as being under threat if Democrats beat Trump’s slate of endorsed candidates in the November contests.
Trump repeatedly fired back at the hecklers, insulting their appearance and accusing them of being “paid” to interrupt the proceedings.
“His mom voted for Trump,” the president said after the first interruption.
“That guy’s got to lose a lot of weight,” he said after a second person started shouting.
“They’re paid protesters,” Trump claimed after yet another disruption. “They’re paid by enemies of our nation.”
The protests continued even when angel mom Marie Vega took the stage to recount the harrowing story of how she survived an armed robbery by two illegal immigrants that left her husband injured and her Border Patrol agent son, Javier “Harvey” Vega Jr., dead.
“Everything was going perfect until two career criminal illegal aliens decided to ambush us in an attempt to steal two four-wheel-drive trucks,” Vega said of the day her son was murdered.
“Without warning, they jumped out of the stolen vehicle they were driving and … they shot at us, killing my Harvey as he so desperately tried to protect us,” she recalled. “They shot my husband in the back and continued shooting at everyone there, including my two little grandsons and their friend.
“In an attempt to protect our family, I picked up the AR that Harvey had reached for before getting shot in the chest, and I returned fire.”
Just as Vega charged that Democrats “want to strip” Americans of their Second Amendment rights, a commotion broke out in the crowd, forcing her to pause for about a minute.
Unlike Trump’s previous Lone Star State event, the president asked Republican Senate hopeful Ken Paxton to join him on stage Wednesday night.
Trump also eschewed mocking Paxton’s manner of dress or public speaking skills, which he’s done in the past.
“I think he’s probably the greatest attorney general in the history of the state of Texas. He is tough. And he was with us all the way,” Trump said of Paxton.
“If you get elected for job performance, you’re going to have a blowout because there’s nobody like him,” he added, telling voters the GOP Senate candidate is “the only thing standing between you and the migrant conquest, the invasion you had two years ago.”
“I’m very proud of him and I think he’s going to be an unbelievable senator,” the president later said.
Meanwhile, Trump repeatedly attacked Paxton’s opponent, Democrat James Talarico – referring to him as “Talafreako,” a “fake” and accusing the lefty state lawmaker of being a vegan.
The president also quipped that first lady Melania Trump has insisted that he pronounce the word “vegan” correctly at his rallies
[JTN] The U.S. Agency for International Development has debarred three more individuals and a company tied to agency programs for misconduct involving government resources and taxpayer funds, according to a new federal watchdog report.
Debarment excludes a person or company from federal contracts, grants and other government business for a set period. The agency's inspector general investigates and refers cases, and USAID decides whether to impose the penalty.
In the latest case, a federal contracting officer with the USAID Mission for Zimbabwe, who has not been named, was debarred after a United States Agency for International Development, Office of Inspector General investigation, released Tuesday, found that he used his government-furnished equipment (GTE) to view and store sexually explicit material.
“USAID IG’s investigations are protecting American taxpayers from funding wasteful, corrupt, and in this case, perverted behavior by federal employees entrusted with foreign assistance programming in Africa,” a senior Trump administration official told Just the News.
The subject of the investigation used his two GTE iPhones to view and store the material and used their laptop to procure commercial sex, including sending messages appearing to solicit commercial sex. USAID policies prohibit even the appearance of facilitating trafficking-related activities.
The subject of the investigation also admitted to OIG investigators that he viewed and stored the sexually explicit material on his government devices, but does not appear to have admitted to soliciting commercial sex.
Following the OIG investigation, the man’s assignment overseas was curtailed and he subsequently resigned from USAID. He was also referred for suspension and debarment and USAID granted that debarment for five years. The investigation summary does not include dates or a timeline of events.
The agency, founded in 1961 by President John F. Kennedy to administer civilian foreign aid and development assistance, was effectively dismantled shortly after the start of the second Trump administration that began in January 2025.
In July of that year, the administration implemented mass staff reductions, canceled 83% of its programs and transferred the remaining ones to the State Department. However, the agency was not fully dismantled because that requires an act of Congress.
Earlier this month, another nonprofit and two individuals were debarred for defrauding U.S. taxpayers out of money.
The OIG’s investigation led to the conviction and sentencing of Abiodun Ogunwale, of Virginia and Abimbola Ajayi, of Maryland. They were found to have committed wire and mail fraud as well as conspiracy to commit money laundering. The two worked for Project HOPE, a USAID-funded nonprofit dedicated to global public health. The two were then debarred for three years, according to an agency inspector general investigation summary report released Oct. 1.
Ogunwale served as director of business development for Project HOPE, which has not been accused of any wrongdoing. Ajayi worked as a consultant for the nonprofit and submitted fraudulent invoices created by Ogunwale to make it appear as though Ajayi had performed work when she had not. Ogunwale then approved the fraudulent invoices and ensured Ajayi was paid. Ajayi also submitted fraudulent receipts claiming business expenses for her own company, AbbiFabDynamics, LLC, receiving additional fraudulent payments.
Ajayi used her ill-gotten gains to pay Ogunwale for his assistance through different avenues, including paying his credit card bills, the OIG reported.
In addition to Ajayi and Ogunwale, AbbiFabDynamics was also debarred for three years.
[BBC Audio] In 2004, the world's first team of mine-detecting rats passed accreditation tests, opening the way for them to be used in humanitarian demining operations.
The project was the brainchild of Belgian researcher Bart Weetjens, who was inspired to tackle the global landmine crisis after seeing Princess Diana walk through a minefield in Angola in 1997.
Drawing on a lifelong love of rodents, he worked with researchers at the University of Antwerp to train Giant African Pouched Rats from Tanzania to detect explosives.
Bart tells Nicky Edwards about the moment he first saw the animals successfully identify buried landmines. Since then, the rats have helped clear them in countries including Mozambique, Cambodia and Azerbaijan.
