[NYP] An ISIS terrorist who plotted a 9/11-style attack on New York City was slapped with another 50 years in prison Monday for stabbing two correctional officers — causing one to lose his right eye — while serving a 40-year sentence for his original terror conspiracy.
Abdulrahman El Bahnasawy, 28, of Ontario, Canada,
…with Talha Haroon, US citizen of Pak origin and Filipino Russell Salic he plotted to attack New York City, including Times Square and the subway system, in 2016. We tried to extradite Talha Haroon from Pakistan to stand trial, but I haven’t seen anything to indicate we succeeded...
has now been sentenced to a combined 90 years behind bars after pleading guilty to charges stemming from the December 2020 attack at a federal penitentiary in Pennsylvania, according to the Justice Department.
The additional punishment comes as his mother, Khadiga Metwally, is running for a school board seat in suburban Toronto — in the same district that made international headlines when shop teacher Kayla Lemieux showed up to class sporting enormous prosthetic breasts.
El Bahnasawy’s original sentence stemmed from a 2016 ISIS-inspired plot to detonate bombs in Times Square and the subway system and open fire on concert crowds during Ramadan.
The Canadian national, who once spoke of wanting to “create the next 9/11,” was arrested in May 2016 after traveling from Canada to the New York area to prepare for the attacks.
But prison walls did little to curb his appetite for violence, according to federal prosecutors.
On Dec. 7, 2020, El Bahnasawy stabbed a correctional officer in the head and face at US Penitentiary Allenwood with a makeshift weapon constructed from part of a steel desk in his cell.
The guard eventually lost his right eye from the injuries.
When a second officer came to help, El Bahnasawy stabbed her in the hand.
A note recovered from El Bahnasawy’s sock after he was restrained read: “This is a terrorist attack for the Islamic State.”
A pledge of allegiance to ISIS was also found taped inside a locker in his cell.
El Bahnasawy pleaded guilty in November 2025 to charges including assault with intent to commit murder, possession of prison contraband and providing material support to ISIS.
“Today’s sentence will further ensure that Bahnasawy remains in prison, where he can do much less harm, for a very long time,” Assistant Attorney General for National Security John A. Eisenberg said Monday.
El Bahnasawy’s attorney, Andy Frisch, blamed the prison assault on his client’s longstanding mental health problems and accused federal authorities of failing to provide adequate psychiatric care.
“He’s not a terrorist,” Frisch told The Post, claiming that a government expert had confirmed diagnoses including schizophrenia and psychotic disorders. So he's a nutjob
Why not both? Islam likes to make efficient use of the variously disabled to accomplish its goals, and many of them are happy to have a way to contribute to the welfare of the Ummah.
Frisch said El Bahnasawy’s parents repeatedly emailed prison officials about the medication and treatment their son required, but their warnings went unheeded.
“Those emails were ignored,” he said.
The lawyer blamed inadequate treatment, segregation and transfers between prisons for worsening his client’s condition, claiming that “he had a psychotic episode, which has resulted in this most recent sentence.”
“My hope is that respect for corrections officers requires more than imposing a serious sentence. It requires that the United States reconsider how it manages mentally ill inmates,” Frisch said.
Asked whether he planned to appeal, Frisch said El Bahnasawy and his parents “are considering their options.”

🔺The Houthis used the Uqayqah area south of Hodeidah to launch missiles toward Saudi Arabia.
🔺The Houthis are digging tunnels and trenches in the Uqayqah area south of Hodeidah.
Of course they’re digging tunnels. All friends of Iran dig tunnels, preferably if they can spend years and billions of dollars to do so before the good guys bomb them into rubble.
🔺The Houthis are establishing military fortifications and missile storage sites in Uqayqah south of Hodeidah.
Ooooohhhh — future secondaries! How lovely of them to think of us.
🔺The Houthis are preparing a command, control, and communications center in the Uqayqah area south of Hodeidah.
Yeah? Any chance certain satellites were looking down while they did so? It’s so much more efficient to start out with accurate target coordinates…
🔺The Houthis previously launched missiles from Uqayqah toward Al-Makha and the Bab al-Mandab region.
🔺Foreign experts were sighted in the Uqayqah area in the "Jabal Ras" directorate south of Hodeidah.
🔺The Houthis are imposing strict security measures around their military sites in Uqayqah.
🔺The Houthis are establishing military fortifications and missile storage sites in Uqayqah south of Hodeidah.
It means achieving fire control over three governorates: Marib, Al-Jawf, and Shabwa, and at the same time, fire control over all Houthi positions in the Nehm district of Sana'a Governorate.
Therefore, this extremely important mountain range must be liberated as soon as possible, even if it requires the army and the coalition to carry out a major military operation.
🚨🚨 Breaking | Al-Makha Junction Ablaze.. Violent Clashes Between the Giants, National Shield, and Houthis! 🔥

Local sources report fierce clashes at Al-Makha Junction between southern Giants forces and National Shield on one side, and Houthi militants on the other.
The confrontations come amid reports of airstrikes targeting Houthi positions in Jabal al-Nar east of Al-Makha.
All eyes are now on Al-Makha Junction, one of the key sites in the battle for roads and supply routes on the western coast.
So far, there is no confirmed information on the extent of losses or changes in ground control.

It would make sense for China to be supplying aid to the Houthis, though not so much Iran: Restricting il flow NW through the Red Sea would redirect it towards the east and China.
[Federalist] The rioters burning and pillaging cities across France are not led primarily by disgruntled students, as corporate media claim, but rather by a red-green alliance of communist activists and Muslim agitators, a recent investigation found.
The network is made up of 54 organizations representing communism, revolutionary socialism, unions, climate change activism, Muslim student and pro-Palestinian groups, as well as corporate media, according to Fox News’ Asra Nomani. Only 16 of the 54 are actually student groups.
The far-left groups, including Gilets Jaunes ("Yellow Vests") and French socialist party La France Insoumise (LFI, "France Unbowed"), reportedly capitalized on student discontent to stoke riots and agitation against capitalism and government.
Communist student groups identified by Fox News include La Jeunesse, Le Poing Levé ("The Raised Fist"), and Union de la Jeunesse Communiste ("Communist Youth Union"), but these are far outnumbered by the adult-led "revolutionary" communist and socialist groups that have driven the destructive riots.
Communist activist Vijay Prashad asserted a link between France’s riots and similar worldwide unrest, including in New Delhi, India, and Buenos Aires, Argentina. "Let fury have the hour, anger can be power," Prashad posted to social media, quoting English punk band The Clash. Prashad is the executive director of Tricontinental Ltd. — an organization funded by fellow communist and tech millionaire Neville Roy Singham, an American currently residing in Shanghai, China.
BreakThrough News shared videos of the chaos, fires, and the hoisting of Palestinian flags across numerous cities on social media, while featuring LFI politicians.
Evans told BreakThrough News that the campaign across the West will come to Washington, D.C., in November in opposition to military spending, telling Americans to “look at France, Spain and India” as inspiration for what to do in D.C.
Riot organizers are already planning to unleash another outbreak of unrest on Nov. 20 in Europe, with several United Kingdom-based groups endorsing agitation, including Counterfire, the British Socialist Party, Socialist Students, and Stop the War Coalition.
A couple in France has gone viral after they were filmed calmly enjoying a glass of wine and a cigarette while fires rage around them — while another woman casually jogged through the worst rioting in years.
The relaxed-looking man and woman, who have been identified, were seen chatting and smoking at an outdoor bistro table, with fires raging feet behind them close to the iconic Arc de Triomphe in Paris.
In another bizarre clip filmed in the French capital, a jogger was seen casually running through a smoke-filled street on Saturday, also completely unfazed by the rioters around her.
Some 2,500 arrests were made over the weekend as violence and looting broke out across the country.
In Paris alone, 855 arrests were made as violent groups clashed with officers and looted luxury stores.
[ZERO] France's streets burned, shops were looted and stripped bare and a historic town hall collapsed under arson. Yet the most striking images from Saturday night were not the fires. They were the people who carried on as if nothing was happening.
One woman jogged straight through thick black smoke past a burning barricade, treating the chaos like an outdoor treadmill session.
Groups of French boomers kept dancing while buildings were torched around them, and a tour guide was filmed continuing her routine for visitors, smiling and pointing out landmarks while flames literally engulfed the city right in front of tourists.
Lots of tweets document the viciousness of the mob.
[Jpost] Some 2,400 people were arrested during the weekend, and police investigators are poring over online videos and images to track down looters.
The targeted curfews that were imposed in parts of Gay Paree and other cities after several days of protests that turned violent mostly peaceful helped keep the peace overnight, French Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu said on Tuesday.
He added that local authorities on the ground can impose targeted curfews again on Tuesday night where they deem necessary.
FRANCE SEES SOME OF ITS WORST VIOLENT PROTESTS IN YEARS
Some 2,400 people were arrested during the weekend, and police Sherlocks are poring over online videos and images to track down looters. The government said it will increase police numbers on the ground, especially for next weekend if it sees renewed protests. It has not specified how many extra officers it will be made available.
For businesses and victims of the violence, the government is putting in place state-financed furlough measures to help employers avoid layoffs, and funds are being set aside to help companies meet their immediate cash flow needs. The government has yet to provide full details of the funding or how the money will be distributed. Insurers are also expected to cover some of the damage.
French authorities issued a curfew for Place de la Republique and the streets around Les Halles in Gay Paree from 8 p.m. on Monday night until 4 a.m. local time on Tuesday, French broadcaster BFM reported on Monday, following riots that took place over the weekend on the sidelines of nationwide protests.
In the northern city of Lille, French authorities also issued a curfew from 6 p.m.on Monday until 0400 local time on Tuesday, following a weekend of riots, a source in Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu's office said.
The curfew, which runs for two days, also covers the cities of Douai, Wattignies and Denain in northern La Belle France, the source added.

[North Press] A Syrian army soldier was killed on Monday in an attack by unidentified gunmen in al-Baghuz, eastern Deir ez-Zor countryside, according to a source at the Syrian Defense Ministry.
The source told Syria’s Al-Iikhbariya TV that the soldier was killed in what it described as a treacherous attack in the area.
No further details were provided about the circumstances of the incident.
Jihadists from rival Al-Qaeda and Islamic State factions in the Sahel have clashed recently on an unprecedented scale in the borderlands spanning Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger, with claims of hundreds of fighters killed.
The two extremist coalitions, which covet influence over the same areas and control of the same routes and local populations, have repeatedly clashed since 2019.
The rivalry also drives their constant expansion in the Sahel, which the ruling juntas in Ouagadougou, Bamako and Niamey have found difficult to contain.
The clashes are "the most intense direct confrontation globally" between an Al-Qaeda branch and an IS-linked group, a report by UN experts submitted to the Security Council in early August said.
A semi-arid belt of land that stretches from the Atlantic Ocean along the southern rim of the Sahara desert to the Red Sea, Africa's Sahel has become the ground zero of global jihadism.
Extremists have steadily expanded beyond the rural areas where they first took root, killing thousands, roiling governments and sowing terror.
Since September, fighting between Islamic State-Sahel Province (ISSP) and the Al-Qaeda-linked Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims (JNIM) has escalated to unprecedented levels.
On Monday, the ISSP said it had killed more than 400 JNIM fighters, including "several leaders", in clashes four days earlier in the Burkinabe province of Oudalan on the Mali and Niger borders.
"If the claimed death toll is confirmed, then it will be the deadliest single battle recorded between the two groups," Heni Nsaibia, an analyst at conflict monitor ACLED, said.
The toll has yet to be independently confirmed.
But if so, it would surpass the more than 200 deaths claimed by the ISSP in the same area in early September.
