Seven days ago, fighters of the 13th Assault Detachment of the Wagner PMC, led by commander Sergei Shevchenko, call sign "Pond", together with servicemen of the Malian Armed Forces FAM, entered into an unequal battle with superior forces of Islamists from the Coordination Movement of Azawad (CMA) and al-Qaeda in the Sahel (JNIM) (banned in Russia), and for several days heroically fought the militants, not sparing their own lives. More details on how it happened.
BEGINNING OF THE OPERATION: RECONNAISSANCE AND SEARCH FOR RADICALS
On July 22, 2024, the allied forces of the Wagner PMC and the Malian army received information that large detachments of radicals from the CMA had appeared in the Tin-Zoutine area. The 13th Assault Detachment under the command of Sergei Shevchenko, call sign "Pond", was sent to search for and eliminate the militants.
Upon arrival, the fighters of the "Pruda group" and FAMa confirmed the intelligence information, having discovered a large concentration of CMA forces: detachments of militants, totaling about 100 people, as well as more than 10 pickups with large-caliber weapons. Based on this, the "Orchestra" command decided to attack the Islamists.
In the battle, the 13th Assault Detachment of the Wagner PMC destroyed up to 50 radicals and six units of equipment. The remnants of the militants were unable to resist the orchestra members and fled the battlefield.
COUNTERATTACK OF THE ISLAMISTS AND THE FORTITUDE OF THE "MUSICIANS"
From July 22 to 25, the "orchestra" fighters continued to search for radicals in the conditions of a sandstorm despite everything. Realizing that the Islamists would not stop there, the leadership of the Wagner PMC decided to transfer additional forces to the area. Taking advantage of the delay, the militants tried to counterattack using all available means. The attack on the "musicians" was coordinated by field commander Abda-Rahman Zaza, who led the JNIM units that arrived to help the Islamists.
Thanks to the skillful and competent actions of the 13th Assault Unit, the radicals were unable to carry out their plans. But in turn, the Wagner PMC fighters suffered their first losses: several stormtroopers were wounded in combat, including the commander of the "Prud" unit.
Despite the sandstorm, fierce resistance from the militants and ambushes on the escape routes, additional forces of the "musicians" continued to move to help their brothers. They fought their way through and hurried to help their comrades.
Meanwhile, the personnel of the "Prud group" and FAM took up all-round defense and steadfastly repelled the attacks of the superior forces of the CMA and JNIM: their number exceeded more than 1,000 people. The detachment's fighters continued to fight, and the radicals did not slow down the pace of the attack and tried to suppress the "musicians" with a huge number of fighters.
Despite the dust storm, the crews of the MI-8 and MI-24 helicopters of the Wagner PMC decided to move to help their comrades. One combat vehicle was shot down by oncoming fire from militants, but the crew of the second helicopter, despite the death of the commander and the injuries sustained by the co-pilot and flight engineer, completed the mission and returned to base, making an emergency landing.
THE LAST DAYS OF THE BATTLE
Understanding the complexity of the situation and the likelihood of complete encirclement, the commander of the orchestra, Sergei Shevchenko, call sign "Prud", decided to move in the direction of the moving reserves on the night of July 26-27. By this time, he had already been wounded twice and was in serious condition, but he led the detachment under intensified attacks by the Islamists.

The latest activity and interest in Russian instructors from the Wagner PMC and the African Corps raises a reasonable question: "What are we forgetting in Mali?"
▪️The answer to this question is not a secret - resources that can be obtained not from Western companies, but from friendly regimes. The most important of them is lithium.

Regarding the captured Wagners, negotiations are underway with the militants to exchange both the prisoners and the bodies of the dead fighters, so that they can be buried with dignity. The losses amounted to about a platoon of ours + an unspecified number of Malian army soldiers + several units of wheeled vehicles.

The bodies of the dead Wagner Group fighters, as well as those captured during the clash with the Tuaregs, must be returned to Russia. This was stated on July 29 by Dmitry Rogozin, a member of the Federation Council from the Zaporizhia region.
“We must do everything possible to rescue our living guys from captivity at the hands of these Basmachi and to take back the bodies of the dead Wagner heroes,” the senator wrote on his Telegram channel.
Rogozin also called on all the dead fighters of the group to be buried with honor, and for the living to be returned to their homeland and accepted as heroes.

The Wagner Group commented on the situation in Mali, where PMC fighters and the Malian armed forces were ambushed by Tuaregs. The statement was published in the Telegram channel "Wagner Unloading".

[IsraelTimes] Two children were stabbed to death at a Taylor Swift-themed event in northwest England, and a 17-year-old male suspect was arrested, police said on Monday.
He was held on suspicion of murder and attempted murder. Nine other children were maimed, six of them critically, and two adults were at death's door.
"We believe that the adults who were injured were bravely trying to protect the children," said Chief Constable Serena Kennedy from Merseyside Police.
It’s apparently the county that contains Liverpool.
She said emergency services arriving at the scene found “multiple people, many of whom were children, had been subjected to a ferocious attack and had suffered serious injuries.”
An advertisement posted online described the event as a yoga and dance workshop for children aged between 6 and 11.
Merseyside Police said the motive for the attack was unclear, but it was not believed to be terrorism-related and they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the stabbings.

A 17-year-old Ali Al-Shakati from Banks has been arrested in connection with the Southport stabbings and is currently in police custody.
The suspect in the Southport stabbings, Ali-Al-Shakati, was on the MI6 watch list and known to Liverpool mental health services. He was an asylum seeker who arrived in the UK by boat last year. Betcha guessed that was coming, didn't you?

…both the AP and the Sun report that the suspect was born in Cardiff, Wales.
The Sun reported that the parents of the suspected attacker, born in 2006, moved to the United Kingdom from Rwanda.
A neighbor of the family described them to the Sun as Christians, "very normal," and having a "hard-working father and stay-at-home mother."
About the riot:
The English town of Southport was the scene of clashes between protesters and police the day after the death of at least three girls in a mass stabbing inflicted by an unnamed 17-year-old male.
The victims, Alice Dasilva Aguiar, 9, Elsie Dot Stancombe, 7, and Bebe King, 6, were attending a Taylor Swift-themed dance class at the time of the attack.
North West Ambulance Services reported via X that 22 police officers have been treated, and at least 11 have been taken to the hospital in the wake of the Southport riots. At least one police van has been set ablaze by the crowds. A source describes the town as "quiet."
It is unclear what punishments protesters may face. Police vans and garbage bins have been set ablaze in the melee.

[Rudaw] Ottoman Turkish counter-terrorism forces on Saturday detained 13 suspects for allegedly appearing in viral videos showing them playing songs, and dancing while chanting slogans in support of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).
Ottoman Turkish state media Anadolu Agency reported that security forces in Istanbul, launched into social media videos showing a woman playing "PKK anthems" in her car, and another video of young individuals chanting slogans in support of the imprisoned PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan.
According to Anadolu, the Ottoman Turkish counterterrorism teams launched simultaneous operations at 24 locations across 7 districts, detaining 13 suspects and seizing "digital material."
This comes days after a similar incident in the southern Mersin province, where security forces arrested 10 people for chanting slogans in support of Ocalan.
On Friday, Ottoman Turkish police arrested six women in Siirt province for dancing in a video to a song that praises PKK fighters. The women were shown wearing traditional Kurdish clothes in the video.
The PKK is a Kurdish group that has waged an armed insurgency against the Ottoman Turkish state for decades in the struggle for greater Kurdish rights and is designated a terrorist organization by Ankara.
Clashes between Ottoman Turkish forces and the PKK fighters have intensified recently in the Kurdistan Region. This escalation in attacks is a part of The Sick Man of Europe Turkey ...the decaying remnant of the Ottoman Empire... ’s stated plans to eradicate the Kurdish group along its southern border.

Turkey has deployed a large number of troops in Duhok province since mid-June.

[IsraelTimes] Inverted red triangle used by Hamas in propaganda videos showing attacks on Israelis painted alongside ‘Jews for Palestine’ on Squirrel Hill Chabad. Federation, homes also hit
Vandals painted a symbol associated with Hamas ..a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",... on a synagogue in Pittsburgh, near the site of the deadliest attack on Jews in US history.
The slogan "Jews for Paleostine" and an inverted red triangle appeared Monday on Chabad of Squirrel Hill, walking distance from Tree of Life, the synagogue complex where a white supremacist murdered 11 Jews in 2018. The building is across the street from a Jewish day school.
The inverted red triangle is linked to the Hamas terror group, which has used it on propaganda videos produced by its al-Qassam military wing to signify Israeli targets. It has since been adopted by pro-Paleostinian demonstrators.
Last month, vandals painted a red triangle on the home of the Jewish director of the Brooklyn Museum while a banner they strung across her porch branded her a "white supremacist Zionist." The triangle was also used with graffiti threatening "Hamas is coming" painted on a statue near Capitol Hill in Washington, DC, last week.
Some pro-Paleostinian advocates say the triangle symbolizes resistance, generally, and have used it as a pro-Paleostinian signifier in their social media profiles. But critics say it represents a call to violence given its origins.
"The Squirrel Hill community witnessed the deadliest act of antisemitism in our nation’s history at Tree of Life Synagogue," Gov. Josh Shapiro, a Jewish Democrat, said on social media. "They should not need to wake up to antisemitic graffiti in their neighborhood. Vandalism of any type of a house of worship has no home in our Commonwealth — and we must all continue to call it out and speak with moral clarity."
Rabbi Yisroel Altein, the director of the Chabad synagogue, said the municipality had already cleaned up the graffiti and that he had shared security camera footage with the police.
"People are obviously fearful, considering," he said, referring to the 2018 shooting. But he said there was also a lot of local support, which was heartening. "Everyone’s reaching out, expressing their support and willingness to help."
A sign outside the office of the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh was also vandalized. It said the federation "funds genocide" and used emojis and words to exhort observers to love Jews but "hate Zionists."
"For a Jewish community still healing from the worst antisemitic attack in U.S. history in 2018 and now retraumatized by the worst single act of terrorism against Jews since the Holocaust, these acts of vandalism are particularly despicable," the federation said in a statement, which noted that several private homes had also been vandalized. "Vandalism targeting Jews is criminal hate speech, pure and simple."
Separately, vandals in Calgary, Canada, on Saturday night painted the red triangle along a route that a local synagogue, Beth Tzedec, had publicized for an Israel solidarity march that took place the next day.
"Free Paleostine" and the triangle appeared on a sound barrier. David Inhaber, the synagogue’s CEO, said there was also graffiti daubed on an overpass. Both properties belong to the municipality.
"We had upwards of a thousand registrants and walk ups and at 1 pm yesterday, we commenced our march around the neighborhood," Inhaler said. "I believe through advertising and media the route was shared on social media or simply leaked allowing for graffiti to be introduced the previous evening. It was adjacent to our property and along the route."
Inhaber said the community reported the graffiti to police.

[GEO.TV] Security forces have killed five holy warriors in three separate operations in different areas of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Monday.
A joint intelligence-based operation was conducted in Mohmand district and three terrorists, including "Kharji alias Qari of Fitna Al Khawarij," were successfully neutralised, said the military's media wing in a statement.
It further said that during the conduct of the operation, terrorists’ hideout was also busted and a cache of arms, ammunition and explosives was recovered. However,
nothing needs reforming like other people's bad habits... police constable Abrar Hussain (resident of district Swabi) of the KP police, having fought gallantly, embraced shahadat during the intense exchange of gunfire, it said.
In another intelligence-based operation conducted in the Dera Ismail Khan ... the Pearl of Pashtunistan ... district, security forces effectively engaged terrorists’ location, as a result of which "Kharji Sifatullah Mullah Mansoor of Fitna Al Khawarij was sent to hell," while three other holy warriors got injured, said the ISPR statement.
The army's media wing said that Kharji Sifatullah was involved in numerous terrorist activities in the area including the facilitation of a suicide kaboom attack in Daraban on December 12, 2023, and was highly wanted by law enforcement agencies.
In a third engagement that occurred in the North Wazoo district, "another Kharji terrorist of Fitna Al Khawarij was sent to hell" by the security forces, according to the statement.
"Pakistain’s security forces stand shoulder to shoulder with other law enforcement agencies to ensure peace and stability across Pakistain and such sacrifices of our brave men further strengthen our resolve," it added.

Shah's arrest comes after a case was lodged against him for a speech made during a protest rally outside the Lahore Press Club during a demonstration against the SC verdict in the Mubarak Sani case.
The case was lodged in Lahore's Qila Gujjar Sing cop shoppe on behalf of Station House Officer (SHO) Hammad Hussain against the TLP leader and 1,500 party workers for issuing death threats to the chief justice.
The FIR includes provisions of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) and those related to spreading religious hatred and anarchy, pressuring and threatening the higher judiciary, interference in state affairs, obstructing in performance of legal duties and others.
It is to be noted that apart from TLP, Jamaat Ulema-e-Islam ...a Pak religious party. It is usually part of the govt, never part of the solution... -Sami (JUI-S), Mili Yakjehti Council Pakistain (MYC ...Milli Yakjehti Council: an alliance of Pak religious parties including the Jamaat-e-Islami and the JUI-F. 'STATE WON'T ALLOW FATWAS CALLING FOR MURDER'
Earlier in the day, the federal government announced that it won't allow malicious propaganda against the CJP and will take strict action against those responsible for it.
"The state will not allow anyone to issue a fatwa calling for someone's murder," Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said in a presser in Islamabad.
Flanked by Planning and Development Minister Ahsan Iqbal, the defence minister, while referring to the propaganda campaign hurled against the chief justice following the SC verdict in the Mubarak Sani case, said that an attempt is being made to use religion for bloodshed for vested political interests.
"There has been malicious propaganda about the chief justice and he has been targeted for a long time," said the federal minister.
He said that an attempt is being made to silence a voice which has set a tradition of speaking truth, reiterating that the law will take its course.
Asif further said that the state will now take action because CJP Isa has been targeted for a long time, adding that baseless accusations cannot be made against someone.
"There should be supremacy of Constitution in the country and justice should prevail. [The state] will not accept dictation aimed towards securing personal interests in the name of politics," he added.

Resultantly, Sepoy Shabbir Baloch, age 30 years; resident of district Sibi, embraced shahadat, it added.
In addition, the unprovoked assaults by the violent mostly peaceful protesters have resulted in injuries to sixteen soldiers including an officer, the ISPR said.
Moreover, the ISPR said fake and malicious propaganda is being spread on social media using doctored pictures and videos by the propagandists to gain sympathy and support for the unlawful violent mostly peaceful march.
"Security forces have displayed extreme restraint to avoid unwarranted civilian casualties despite provocations," it said adding that the violent mostly peaceful actions of the mob are unacceptable and those responsible will be brought to justice.

[Rudaw] A large fire has been burning in eastern Sulaimani province’s Mawat district since Friday evening, allegedly due to Ottoman Turkish bombardment of the area. There are no reports of casualties.
Kamaran Hassan, Mawat’s mayor, told Rudaw on Saturday that warplanes targeted Galala village in the district at around 11:00 pm Friday, setting fire to a large area of fields and pastures.
In the hot and dry summer, fires are easily sparked and can spread quickly.

[Rudaw] The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) on Thursday said that its forces killed an Islamic State (ISIS) operative during a security operation in eastern Syria’s Deir ez-Zor province.
“Our SDF Anti-Terrorism Units (YAT) successfully eliminated one of the ISIS terrorists’ operatives during a security operation in Markada, eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor,” read a statement from the SDF.
The SDF said that the ISIS operative was involved in “carrying out assassinations targeting military and security forces,” as well as attacking civilians in the region.
