Two ICRC drivers killed in South Darfur attack
[SUDANTRIBUNE] The International Committee of the Red Thingy (ICRC) announced that two of its drivers were killed by button men in South Darfur, Sudan
...a Moslem country located in the Horn of Africa. It is noted for its affinity for rule by ex- or current generals, its holy men, and for the oppression of the native Afro population by its Arab conquerors. South Sudan, populated mostly by the natives, split off from Sudan proper, which left North and South Darfur to be oppressed by the guys with turbans. The country is currently enjoying a civil war between the army and the Rapid Support Forces, which used to be part of the army but then they got another ambitious general and you can guess the rest...
on Thursday. Three other ICRC staff members were also injured in the attack.

The ICRC team was returning from Layba, where they were assessing the needs of communities affected by ongoing armed violence.

"We are deeply saddened by the loss of our colleagues," said Pierre Dorbes, head of the ICRC delegation in Sudan. "Our heartfelt condolences go out to their families, and we wish a speedy recovery to the injured."

The ICRC is prioritizing support for those impacted by this tragedy, including the families, relatives, and colleagues of the victims, added the international organization. The statement offered no details about the attack’s circumstances, which occurred in a region controlled by the Rapid Support Forces."

The humanitarian group further called for the immediate protection of all civilians, including aid workers and medical personnel, who should never be targeted in violence.

The ICRC provides vital services in the country in collaboration with the Sudanese Red Islamic Thingy Society (SRCS). These include supplying medical supplies to hospitals in conflict zones, facilitating communication for families separated by violence, promoting international humanitarian law, and improving access to clean water.
